What a disgustingly hateful pile of dogma crap...how does this book still have any respect anywhere? Glowing endorsements of slavery, rampant misogny, sadistic deities and perverted 'prophets'...what does anyone see in this book besides well-preserved lies and the feral malice of ancient man?

Magazines and Pamphlets that talk about Evolution and living a moral filled life without god? I mean J-Witness's have "The Watch tower" Mormons have missionaires...Christians have flyers and things that they hand out and put in Stores or waiting rooms or hospitals. So religious people get mad if Atheists did the same thing?

I hear people respond to questions of life-after-death with 'it depends on your beliefs', as if the beliefs somehow change reality. Reality is what it is -- whatever happens after death is what it is, regardless of belief. Beliefs can change the way a person lives this life but that's it -- e.g. an islamic terrorist believes he's going to go to heaven for blowing people up. He's so convinced (especially with evidence his perception tells him supports his belief -- e.g. he has a dream, meets some other religious person, etc.). His belief may change his life to where he feels very good and 'saved' but it doesn't change reality. The only thing that can tell us what reality is is an Enlightenment experience (the one Jesus and the Buddha had) which is a DIRECT experience of reality. Why, then, do we adopt all these beliefs and treat them as reality??

I am not kicking religion, which is based on Faith and Belief, because we all have beliefs, even Science oriented people like myself. I am intrigued though, by the process that seems to occur in our minds, where our beliefs become certainties; also, we dislike any attempt to undermine what we believe.

Can you describe, by recollection of personal experience, any events that changed your beliefs, either promoting it to certainty or eroding it, causing you to rethink your beliefs.

regards
MM
