You are right, there is no point in having the pope. The word pope is not in the bible. If Peter was appointed to be the first pope as was claimed, then surely the word pope would appear in the book of acts or at least mentioned in the epistles. So it was either not that important or it was made up by the catholic church.
For example... Pope cannot be married, but Peter was married
"And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. " - Matthew 8:14
Hope this helps

Here's the thing. When Christianity first became official, it was during the time of the Roman Empire. Since the Roman Empire had a heirarchical structure, that's what the leaders knew, and that's how they structured the Catholic (meaning "worldwide") church.
The majority of people who are Christian today have got a thousand years of Catholicism in their religious background, because there was no Protestant Reformation of any lasting power until Martin Luther. And he was (wait for it?) Catholic.
Different people want to stop their traditions at different points in history, and that's not always a bad thing. Unless the Pope is getting in your face, why get in his?

You think wrong.Bible NT: Matthew 16:18'And I tell you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it......and John 21:16 .....'Take care of my sheep.....'
So the Pope keeps and gives to others priests the Bless of Jesus for the church in the world and does what Jesus Christ God saied to Saint Peter the apostole.
Mens must accept others mens who choice to work for souls.
Men has body and soul.Body has his needs and the soul has his needs too. If the soul is health ,the body will be health too.

Well obviously there's no point as far as YOU are concerned. But for Catholics, the Pope is God's Vicar on earth. An ambassador. His job is to give God's opinion on earthly matters.

You should ask Jesus why He created the role of Pope.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.
With love in Christ.
