I have yet to meet a happy athiest, especially on this Yahoo answers board! The ones I've seen are constantly criticizing the Christians and marking answers negatively that are very ligit, but don't agree with their opinions.

I honestly want to know: Why so angry???

It has to do with the "Positive Scientific Proof" that the Atheist always mention. Remember 1980, and Mt. St. Helen? It was a tremendous volcano in Washington State. In 1990, some geologist went there and collected rocks. They sent these samples to various laboratories to be tested and dated, using various testing methods. These were the same laboratories, using the same methods that they use for dating fossils, and other rock samples to date the age of the earth. The dates that these laboratories came up with for the age of the rocks were as young as 10,000 years to as much as 2,000,000 years, depending on the laboratory. This is a big discrepency in dates, especially when you realize that the rocks were only 10 years old at the time!!

Can any of you Atheist in here explain the errors that these laboratories made, and why should we believe any of the old dates they have given on other samples?

Jesus is commonly considered to have been born on the 25th of December. However, it is common knowledge among Christian scholars that he was not born on this day. It is well known that the first Christian churches held their festival in May, April, or January. Scholars of the first two centuries AD even differ in which year he was born. Some believing that he was born fully twenty years before the current accepted date. So how was the 25th of December selected as the birthday of Jesus ?

I'm trying to study it right now by reading the Bible, and I'm not even past Genesis yet (and most of it really makes no sense). Is there anybody who has read the Bible who has an answer to my question? Nobody give me any "beleive in science" ****, I've had to deal with it before in these kinds of questions. I want people who HAVE read the Bible and who KNOW the answer. I could die at any time and I want to be prepared.

Alright well I have one.

Well, My mom's a Teacher Assistant for Pre-K(and her friend is the real teacher) and 2 years ago this all happend:

My mom had a girl named Emily in her class. She was a very nice and sweet girl. Her mom is a teacher at the school.
A year or two later after she was in my mom's class Emily and her family got in a car crash. Emily was the only one with serious damage. So, they went to the hospital and all that to see if Emily was okay. About a month or two later after the car crash she was offically dead. Then a few weeks after Emily died the real teacher of the class my mom is a Teacher Assistant of said that a long time ago(like 30 years or so ago) she woke up in bed and a week before that her boyfriend broke up with her. She saw an angel and it said a spanish saying(something about to be happy) and of course, the teacher can speak spanish. So anyway, She told my mom that the angel she saw looked EXACTLY like Emily! Freaky, huh?

I am agnostic liberal and a democrat living in colorado springs and they say they are the ones on the attack pleeease the reason i read the bible is to create a conclusion after i analyze the script so i know why most the evangilicals where i live are so not all of them but blind and narrow minded THATS why i dont put people down but where i live this is my opnion not trying to be offensive but nothing makes since all the stuff in there is so ill logical and not making since the book makes the whole god theory irrelavent not to mention there is no hard evidence.. like when birds came before humans but if there where no humans to name the birds then how does that work thats illogical right there.and when they say alot of people lived for many centurys does it meen on our calander they lived for 900 typical western cycles or a primitve yearly schedule wich moved much faster i would think as medacine got better wich they didnt have modern medicine you would live longer but n egypt 5000

Granite is the rock below sedimentary rock. It reaches down at least 12 miles.

There are two properties of granite that are extremely interesting
a) If one melts Granite, and then cools it, it becomes another type of rock. Granite cannot come from a molten state. According to evolution the world was molten for millions of years. How did Granite form?

b) In all granite there are what are called Polonium Halos. There are trillions of these halos found in all granite. Polonium is a radioactive element. When the Polonium decays into a more stable element it gives off a burst of energy that produces the Halo. Now the Polonium must have been in the granite before the granite solidified, or the halos would not be present. Here is the problem. Polonium has an extremely short half-life. All isotopes decay in less than 36 hours. This means that all the world's granite was formed in less than a day. How could this happen without God?

I mix and match different beliefs, even including some of my own ideas that I have determined quite possible, all the while holding an open stance on everything. I do not dismiss the possibility of anything, merely choose not to accept it as the only choice. From here, I generally hear that I'm going to burn in hell for not having faith. If burning in hell is the consequence for accepting others as they are with what they believe, I will accept my fate with pride. I may be the only one there for compassion and understanding, but if there truly is a God, He should understand my stance and not punish me for a lack of blind faith. If He can't do that, He is not God in my mind. The alternative, of course, is that science is the "only truth" which is as much a religion as Catholocism. Science is a collection of theories which, based on the knowledge of the time, are claimed as laws. So, tell me, why is it so bad for me to be an individual? I'm not raping or killing people.
