I have yet to meet a happy athiest, especially on this Yahoo answers board! The ones I've seen are constantly criticizing the Christians and marking answers negatively that are very ligit, but don't agree with their opinions.

I honestly want to know: Why so angry???

ETA: By angry, I mean unprovoked-angry. I've literally had athiests attack me completely out of the blue. I know not all athiests are angry, and thank you to the pleasant ones who have already responded. But my question is to those who are angry and vent their anger unprovoked? As if the world is ready to attack them so they're going to attack first?

hahahahha yeah parrot and the rest is angry because of me, because they were told they were damned to a fantasy land(hell) that doesn't exist, and upset over an imaginary person (god) that doesnt exist. seems as though i scared them. hopefully into the light. they are confused people i say. Christians are not the causes of their madness. It is themselves. they do not have christ. they instead insult and ridicule to compliment there own miserable lives. if you dont believe me, look at all of their Q&A and you will see ALL of their insults and sarcasm is at christians. they say nothing good. it is good btw, that i draw so much attention from atheists that say that i am ignorant and spitting out nonsense. why all the attention if obviously i dont know what i am talking about? they fool no one. they need prayer for their souls. God still loves them and as christians, we need to pray for them. there really shouldnt be a reason for their misery. god bless!!!

Then apparently you don't really know any, and a website is not a legit way of "meeting" or even knowing anything about a person...

People can read into words however they want, ever think that maybe people's posts might be more humorous, and less angry, then you think it is?

Edit: People are people. Those that are the unprovoked angry types and just angry people in general, nothing to do with being a non believer, they exist in all backgrounds.

in reponse to Countrygirl

This is a good reason why people might think we are "angry:" you made a gross (untrue) generalization about athesits that we are all materialistic idiots who put our happiness in cars.

The anger (when it is anger, I don't get angry but I used to get frustrated a lot), is from, like eveyrone says, being told you're a bad person for not believing in Jesus, being assumed you're ignorant and need to be saved, or that "you'll come around," being told you're going to hell.

The church my parents go to spends more time raising money for ITSELF than helping anyone else. Many people who go there are very rich and materialistic. They also backstab each other regularly and some can be downright mean. They're no more satisfied than any other group of people.

So, anyone can be materialistic and place their happiness in things: christians, atheists, jews, etc. If you are greedy for things in this life and then give them all up to give into heaven, you are still greedy, you're just greedier for a paradise than for your toys.

It's all in perspective. I have no problems with anyone, from any religion or non-religion. How we label ourselves has nothing to do with who we are.

You're right about happiness, it comes from within, regardless of what religion you do or don't believe in.

You should see the responses I got when I asked for prayer for my friend who was seriously hurt in an accident...
There are really some evil people out there.
I don't think it's fair to say "all" atheists are angry, but there are some extremists giving them a bad name... Just as the judgmental Christians are giving me a bad name.

I'm normally a happy person. Quite a few people have been insulting tonight, and actually I find this question rather insulting as well. So I might be a little pissed off at some people. And another thing? When we have actual hard facts about things, opinions don't matter as much. When we have a video of someone killing someone else, you're opinion about him being a nice, normal guy doesn't really count for much.

i pass to could desire to disagree that the familiar public of persons who're impolite on Yahoo Q/A are additionally Atheists. I do agree that there are very impolite people who take part in this communicate board. even with the undeniable fact that, they seem again in all religions, races, a while, and ideology. look into the political section sometime. There you will discover that, especially, the solutions are impolite, and a few even end with God Bless.

I'm not technically an Atheist, I believe everyone is a God, but I don't harrass Christians or even try to convert them, it is their right to believe what they believe. Read through some of my answers (I am also thesom666). I do not harrass people of any religion, I will debate with them, but not in an uncomfortable manner. I am happy by the way, thank you.

Only with Christians because I'm tired of the arrogant Christian attitude. Just because I'm not happy when I talk to Christians, doesn't mean I'm an angry person.

Replies to someone that says "I don't believe in god" like "Well then I won't see you in heaven". Don't you get that that's incredibly rude, arrogant, insulting, patronizing, condescending, and just otherwise bad behavior?

If Christians could learn better behavior, they'll be treated better and nonChristians won't be so angry towards them.

Look at it from an Athiest perspective. They are constantly being told by people that they are going to a hell they don't believe in, and they have to live in a society of poeple that believe this. It's a little hard.

well i'm agnostic but the disrespect and hatred goes both ways if you were to truly look at everybody's answers you will see for yourself that even religious people such as christians muslims and jews ask and say some hateful things and are angry just as well

I've found the opposite true. The Religious Fundies are way too serious, angry, and mean, and the Atheists take most things lightly and with humour. Maybe it just depends on your perspective at the time?

Parrot makes a good point too. Check that link : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai_nbO8YK3pwAWrohnkv25fsy6IX?qid=20061222171211AAP4S2V&show=7#profile-info-40fb7149500145c2aa3349080d776bd9aa

Prime example of what I mean.
