Bible/Jesus: To share with the poor, "The love of money is the root of all evil", "It is harder for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven that for a cammel to pass through the eye of a needle.".
Karl Marx: "To everone according to their need, from everone according to their ability".

Well, both insist on economic equality and social equality, I suppose, knowing that Karl Marx was a symbolism of Socialism.

Both Jesus and Karl Marx are very interesting men to study, I must say!

As the American Marx scholar Hal Draper remarked, "there are few thinkers in modern history whose thought has been so badly misrepresented, by Marxists and anti-Marxists alike." The legacy of Marx's thought is bitterly contested between numerous tendencies who claim to be Marx's most accurate interpreters, including Marxist-Leninism, Trotskyism, Maoism, and libertarian Marxism.

As this statement says "the legacy of Marx's thought is bitterly contested." I would say that Jesus' thought is also bitterly contested and has many interpretations. I also think Jesus' thought has been badly misrepresented by Christianity's main ideas.

I would say the good parts of socialist theory line up with Christianity. If we lived in a perfect world, socialism would be wonderful - everyone working as hard as they could and sharing with those who are disadvantaged. This is actually exactly the same as Christianity in that respect. The bible values hard work and charity.

However there were many points where Marx and Jesus disagreed - like the existence of God for example...

But what I wanted to say was that I see the fundamental flaw in socialism is it's unrealistic optimism. People are selfish and unless there is something in it for them, on average people will not work hard and contribute to society. Power corrupts, and in a socialist system money is taken from those who work hard and given to those who have schemed their way into being in control of the economic flow.

In theory socialism is beautiful... in practice it is ugly. And it is just a fact of the human condition that people behave selfishly and try to take advantage of other people.

That's where Jesus comes in - Jesus has the power to change people's hearts and minds so that they want to share and be charitible. Socialism cannot change people's hearts, only God can do that!

God bless you, my friend :)

BTW I checked out your groups page and I see we are in quite a bit of agreement! However, a computer may be impartial, but a computer is still written by humans and operated by humans - it will not distance socialism from human greed and sin.

Also, in your group you say "Love of money is the root of all evil" - The actual quote is "The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil" - That is to say not all evil stems from the love of money.

I would say all evil stems from pride... or you could say "Love of self is the root of all evil" - Wanting to exhalt ourselves over God to whom all glory and might and power is due.

Karl Marx said "I utterly hate all gods"
I don't think that puts him much in sympathy with Jesus Christ.
On the other hand, they both had left arms.
