I got hit by a drunk driver earlier this year. Totally demolished my car. I only suffered a broken clavicle, nothing else. Every person who saw the accident or the aftermath of such says that I should "Thank God for walking away from it". Why? I am at the border of Agnostic and Athiest, so I don't beleive in such things. Why would I thank "God" and not the people who actually saved me, the "German Engineers" who built the car.

I'm an Atheist, and I am annoyed at this misconception. Helping others and making positive change in the world is very important to me. Yes, I have my own personal ambitions, but those are not what my life is about. My life is about my friends and family. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the statement....though it is more frequent that the religious population misunderstands the Atheist's point of veiw.....

My Mom had a disease and the docters said its extremly fatal and they tried surgery and stuff. and it looked like she was going to die even the docters said she had about a month in a half to live. she didnt believe in God until she was in the hospital bed. knowing she was gonna die. I believe in God to let you know. and i prayed everyday 4 her, and well I prayed to God askin him to give my mom another chance if not for her for me, n I coudnt help but cry and. 3 days later the docters had called the house and said my mom has recoverd and the disease has gone, they released her a few months ago she's fine now. sdhe said she's just lucky, what do you think does it sound like luck or a divine one that Is shoing he loves her as well as me.

Why are the laws of the universe, mathematics, and science so uniform in design? Why can they not me attributed to a designer? When we discover a new law, is it discovering something that existed previously? Then how was it established?

this is aimed at "strong atheists".

why do you try to disprove the existence of god?

why do you think that religon is harmful when it clearly isn't?

please don't bring up the roman catholics trying to stop stem-cell research. that was the fault of the pope, not the fault of religous people everywhere.

and don't bring up the middle-eastern war. that was just a few middle-eastern politicians using religion as an excuse to start a couple of wars. it was politics, not religion.

Because it is, after all, a Pagan tradition.

2006-12-10 08:36:32 · 16 answers · asked by STFU Dude 6

Ok, I'm a Druid and stand proud and firm behind my Pagan beliefs. But my father is a die-hard Lutheran. His church is experiencing financial problems and are seeking helpers for a fund raiser they are having later this month. They have the only WELS church in the area and even though I am a Druid, I don't want to see them loose their place of worship. It'd be like someone taking out all the trees in a Druid's grove. Part of me wants to help with the fund raiser so they can keep their building, but another part of me wants to just sit back and let them fail. Would it be religiously ethical of me to help them, given the difference in faiths, or would it be better to just keep out of their way? Maybe you can help me decide on what to do.
