I got hit by a drunk driver earlier this year. Totally demolished my car. I only suffered a broken clavicle, nothing else. Every person who saw the accident or the aftermath of such says that I should "Thank God for walking away from it". Why? I am at the border of Agnostic and Athiest, so I don't beleive in such things. Why would I thank "God" and not the people who actually saved me, the "German Engineers" who built the car.

Now, I wouldn't be thanking "God" because I don't believe in such. My point is that everyone just assumes. It was, after all, science that saved me, not some sort of divine grace.

Trust in Jesus not (humanly intelligent) German engineers. Will they be waiting to help if needed for some other major need?

The witnesses to the accident thank their "God" because they truly feel thankful for the chance to walk away from such an accident and attribute such goodness to a higher power. You attribute it to the toils of automotive engineers. Others may attribute it to economists who maintain the system that rewards the engineers for their toils and keeps them at it. Yet others may attribute it to you for having valued a safe car in the first place, and having worked hard to pay for it.
Though I don't believe in God myself, I can easily see that somebody can have a different perspective on the event, and an answer that they personally find fulfilling. I certainly doubt that anybody asking you to "thank God" has any other purpose but to show their appreciation for your survival.

You should thank God for his grace and mercy and for sparing your life. Yes, you were in a German made vehicle, but anyone can perish in an accident even if it is a tank (German made or not!)
You should thank God for everything... the well made car,,, having the wisdom to buy the car... being smart enough to wear your seatbelt...
God's Spirit dwells upon each and every person whether he believes or not. We all recieve His blessings because He loves even those who do not acknowledge Him.
I think that you do believe in God. I hope that you accept Him soon.

Ok, are you praising or mocking, you did not say who was driving the German engineered car, you or the drunk.

Thank the Germans. There is no God, and if he was, he wouldn't be German.
