why do you believe in a single deity?
Sincere question-I have a friend who's that way and I don't feel comfortable asking her. We discuss religious ideas and she even tells me about some contradiction or error she's seen/heard of, but she would 'close up' if I ever asked her why she believes.

The article was comparing the actress to Mary. The 16-year old actress, according to the article, is expecting a baby w/ her boyfriend. The article was talking about how the actress' life is similar to Mary's- they were both pregnant out of wedlock at a young age, Joseph was a carpenter, the actress' boyfriend is a carpenter. Now, before anyone accuses me of judging, that's not what I'm doing. But, it kind of bugged me that they were doing that. It seemed to me like it was lessening the importance of Jesus' birth. You can't compare a teenager getting pregnant to the divine conception of Jesus Christ. Maybe it's just me.... I'd like other Christian's viewpoints on this. Thanks!!

Thank you for the correction of my misquote - 2nd law instead of 3rd. And I appreciate all you evolutionists making my point for me.

Wanted to expand a little on my earlier question - seemed many were thinking small picture. I know the law refers to a closed system. I wasn't refering to the earth & our solar system. I was thinking bigger, like the universe. The big bang (Can I assume the universe is a closed system without your shorts getting in a knot?) resulted in a whole lot of order. If evolution doesn't trace back to space dust, what's your theory? Little green men, perhaps?

I just got an from a forum member about "our boycott" working, because Walmart has dropped its gay and lesbian agenda. He was referring to a post I had left in response to a question asking if I used my buying power to assert my views with stores that either supported or didn't support my beliefs. I said I certainly did, and I won't be shopping at Walmart through the holidays.

This is because I'm Wiccan and Walmart has decided that "Happy Holidays" is somehow less appropriate than "Merry Christmas", which excludes the MYRIAD of other holidays occurring in December. I have no problem with Christmas, but it's not the only holiday happening in the next few weeks.

So, how many posters on this site genuinely believe that only Christians, Athiests and Muslims post and answer questions here? Because I'm noticing a trend not only in responses but in questions I'm seeing. Do the rest of us not count? By a show of hands?

I'm looking into maybe a major in Religion but I have a few questions: what kinds of jobs after college are offered in this field besides a pastor? Would it be better for me to go to a private college or university for this degree?

Reading some replies to a question posted yesterday, this happens all the time. The quote from 2 Kings18 v27 was actually spoken by a commander from the Assyrian army (Iraq today) to the inhabitants of Jerusalem which were the tribe of Judah at the time. Therefore, an arab told the people of Jerusalem they would drink thier own urine if they didn't conform to the Assyrian king. This makes it a bit different doesn't it. Just wanted to put things straight!

I hear and have witness many situations where Christians seem be very protective of Israel? Are they protecting the Jews because Christ was a Jew? Is there something about the holy land? The Jews in Israel aren't even Christians, they pray to a different god. In the movie Passion of Christ, Christ was murdered by the Jews!..

“The Prophet said, "after me i have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women."” http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/062.sbt.html#007.062.033

He makes quite a confession by referring to himself as an "affliction" upon "man", but then he negates the honesty with declaring that "woman" are the greatest "affliction" upon man?

Now, he doesnt modify this by adding any humor or specifics, he just leaves goodly followers to believe that woman are the worst thing on earth.

Oh, by the way, for those of you who try to take the absurd and fit it back into your little pc reality, I have some bad news...this isnt some "extremists" diary. This is the Bukari, and I hate to tell you, but 99.99% of all Muslims accept the Bukari.

Heres what you might hear in response:

"Whatever contradicts the Quran is false". Uh, your not saying it does are you! Show us where it does!

What you wont hear:

"I reject any religion which claims woman are the worst affliction"

If you'll check the last few questions I asked - I asked 4 questions - asking "What is the snarkiest comment you've gotten on here?" I asked it to Christians, Muslim, Other and Atheists. It was worded the same every single time, just addressing a different audience. Yahoo gave me a violation notice before even POSTING the one to atheists.

How atheists on this board put up with this kind of attitude is beyond Me.
