I just got an from a forum member about "our boycott" working, because Walmart has dropped its gay and lesbian agenda. He was referring to a post I had left in response to a question asking if I used my buying power to assert my views with stores that either supported or didn't support my beliefs. I said I certainly did, and I won't be shopping at Walmart through the holidays.

This is because I'm Wiccan and Walmart has decided that "Happy Holidays" is somehow less appropriate than "Merry Christmas", which excludes the MYRIAD of other holidays occurring in December. I have no problem with Christmas, but it's not the only holiday happening in the next few weeks.

So, how many posters on this site genuinely believe that only Christians, Athiests and Muslims post and answer questions here? Because I'm noticing a trend not only in responses but in questions I'm seeing. Do the rest of us not count? By a show of hands?

I tend to argue on the side of Atheists but I completely understand how you feel. I try not to bring up Wicca because of the torrent of abuse it generally brings out from the Christian population. Though, oddly, the Atheists and the Muslims are much much nicer than the Christians.

I'm not sure which you're asking about--your Walmart boycott, or the demographics of this site, but I'll answer the last paragraph.

I'm Agnostic, and there's a Druid topic a little ways down the page, so I'd say there's certainly more than Christian, Atheist and Muslim--it's just that those groups are the largest, so naturally most questions here are ones concerning those three groups.

I understand your frustration. I'm a Christian, and I don't care if other people celebrate their own religions, and holidays and what not. But it's like...technically anyone could come up, claim a religious holiday, and complain about it not being advocated in a store. Christmas is more prominant..and most people at least in America celebrate Christmas, so it's a term more widely used. It doesn't mean that they're shutting other holidays out. Just keeping it simple and sticking to the mainstream.

The reality of it is that there are a lot more Christmas shoppers than any other group from Nov-Dec.

Walmart could care less about personally selecting who he caters to. The only motivation is to target his most lucrative shoppers.

The good news is that you shouldn't take it personally.

Happy holidays!

So funny! If you're Wiccan, then you're pagan, right? Christmas is a totally pagan holiday, and only the most ill-informed people think it has anything to do with the Jesus of the Bible. Walmart is the ultimate pagan store, worshipping commercialism in its most basic form. So enjoy the whole winter solstace celebration!

Well the rest of us count. Walmart is simply cow-towing to it's main group of customers hence the Merry Christmas fanfare. I hate shopping there anyway.

Yeah you count. and for the record i see a lot of wiccans on here. Maybe the other religions don't feel the need to announce themselves as much as Christians, Muslims and atheist do.

Come on, don't split hairs and lose your mind over this. Who cares what those hobos or former inmates working at Walmart say?

I'm not wiccan or pagan but I party with some of them.
