I hear and have witness many situations where Christians seem be very protective of Israel? Are they protecting the Jews because Christ was a Jew? Is there something about the holy land? The Jews in Israel aren't even Christians, they pray to a different god. In the movie Passion of Christ, Christ was murdered by the Jews!..

Christians protect the Jews because the Jewish people are God's Chosen People and the apple of God's eye. The Bible tells us that whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, whoever curses Israel will be cursed.

Without the Jewish people, there would not be Christianity. Yes Jesus was a Jew, not only a Jew, but a Rabbi (Jewish teacher). Jesus is the root of the olive tree, the Jewish people are the natural branches and the Gentiles (all non-Jewish followers of Jesus) are the un-natural branches.

Jesus was murdered on order of a handful of Jewish Priest (the Sanhedrin), not the Jewish people as a whole. The Romans executed him and have a part in it as well. Besides, the Crucifixion is fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy, it was going to happen. Jesus forgave them right on the cross, so there is no one that should have anything against the Jewish people because of it.

Actually, Christians are not protecting Isreal or the Jews, they are protecting Jerusalem. It is so unfortunate that to this day that our foriegn policy is still given sway to the powers of the religious right, but it is true. Christians believe that Jesus Christ will have his second coming by reappearing in Jerusalem. When he does he will take some Jews into his own, i.e. saving them, but he will destroy the rest of them and they will go to Hell just like any other evil person during Judgement Day. Many fundamental Christians believe this, despite saying they have love and respect for the Jewish people. They don't. However, when it comes to Jerusalem they will do all they can to see that Jerusalem is protected, regardless of who actually lives there. So, this is a great question because the answer reveals the true motivation behind the appearance of Christians wanting to respect Israel and the Jews. It is the LAND they are protecting, not the people!

You're very observant! This is sort of true. I don't think it is because Jesus was Jewish....after all, look at all the persecution and negative stereotypes in historically Christian nations, often attributed to the fact that "the Jews killed Jesus". I think somebody mentioned this, but in the Bible, in the Book of Revelations there are prophesies that most evangelical (or "born-again") Protestants interpret as being the rebuilding of Israel. It was predicted that, and when, Israel would be destroyed and then made into a nation again... Israel is the only nation in the world that existed, was completely wiped out of existence for centuries and then re-created. Also, many point out that every nation that crossed Israel in the Bible (and historically) has been destroyed, from Babylon to Egypt and everyone in between.
Also, essentially Jews and Christians do pray to the same God, but Christians acknowledge another aspect of that God, the Son, Jesus Christ, and note that he is the only way to salvation.

Actually, it was the Romans that killed Jesus. Christians and Jews pray to the same God because the Jews pray to the Father, just not Christ the Son and Cristianity is based on Judaism. The difference is the Jews believe in sanctification by the Law, while Christians have the Gospel. (the Jews are still waiting for the Messiah to come, while Christians believe he has come)
There is another religion based on Judaism, possibly Islam(Sorry if I'm mistaken!)??
Besides, what's wrong with protecting someone of another faith??

It's complicated. Some may be acknowledging a cultural debt to the parent religion. In light of the persecution of the last 2 millenia, often by Christian hands, some may be sensitive to any perception of anti-Semitism. Some may be sincerely trying to protect a people who are apparently still threatened by enemies. Some may be trying to manipulate the Jews into an apocalyptic role that they have read into their scriptural prophecies. Some may simply feel more familiar and comfortable with Jewish/Israeli culture than Muslim/Palestinian culture and want to protect their access to Christian shrines. And some may simply be getting their opinions from the kind of news they watch or hear.

It is not a simple matter to attribute motives, whether altruistic, opportunistic or practical, to any member or group of Christians. Opinions and reasons cover the spectrum. But it does seem as if every one has some kind of opinion about the subject.

God has commanded the Christians to protect Israel and the Jews. However, I have nothing against Muslims and want to be friends with them, too.

Christians, Jews, and Muslims all pray to the same God; the God of Abraham.

The Jews, according to the Bible, are God's chosen people, and He will judge the nations of the earth depending upon how they dealt with Israel. God even instructs us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Since they are His chosen people, by the promise given to Abraham, we are allowed to be grafted into this promise by our acceptance of Christ. The Bible says "All nations will be blessed through Israel". Christ came to the Jews and they rejected Him, and so God opened the way for the Gentiles to come to Christ. But He has never forsaken the Jews nor releived us of our responsibility to support Israel.

the Protestant religion has allied itself to the Jews in the mistaken idea that they are the descendants of the 10 lost tribes of Israel, and since the reformation this seems more preferable than association with the Catholic church to them.
by doing this they must think that they will inherit the promise made to the Patriarchs but they forget that the Jews murdered their Messiah and lost the title of the chosen people, this now belongs to Christianity.
anyone who thinks that modern Jewry is holy then I suggest that they do a check on the Babylonian Talmud that Jews hold more sacred and important than the Torah of Moses.

Christians do not protect Israel in general. THE USA does - that goes back to World War II when the country was created to ease the guilt of the Holocaust.
