There are two Lazarus' named in the scriptures. One was a begger. The other was the brother of Mary and Martha. The begger was mistreated by a rich man and when he died he was carried to the bosom of Abraham (Paradise) and the rich man died and went to hell. The rich man could see Lazarus being comforted while he was in torment. He asked God if he could go back and warn his brothers about hell.
The other Lazarus died and Christ brought him back to life after he had been dead three days.

There are 2 in the new testament. Starting in Luke 16:20 to 16:25. This talks about the beggar who was mistreated by the Rich man and now the rich man is in hell and Lazarus is in heaven.
The other Lazarus is the brother of Mary who Jesus rose from the dead. Thia is found in John 11:1 to 12:17.

In Luke's gospel, Lazarus is the subject of a parable, a beggar who dies by the neglect of a rich man. When the rich man dies, he asks Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his family of the torment that awaits them if they continue as he did. But Abraham tells him it would make no difference. "They have the Law and the prophets. If they won't listen to them, they won't listen even if one came back from the dead."
In John's gospel, Lazarus DOES come back from the dead, raised by Jesus to show God's power. Here, Lazarus has no story, he is just a brother of Martha and Mary who disappears from the gospel with the end of the miracle. But I've always marvelled at the coincidence.

There were 2 men in NT named Lazarus.
One was a poor beggar who died and went to "Abrahams bosom" or paradise. The "rich man" asked if Lazarus could dip his finger in water and place it on his tongue. Abraham said, um, no.
The Second was Martha's brother. Jesus loved this Lazarus and allowed him to die so he could raise him from the dead so many would believe on him. And many did. There were many from the Sanhedrin there who were a witness to this miracle. This miracle was so great and scared the Pharisees so much, that after this they planned to kill Jesus.

lazarus was supposedly a very close friend to jesus, like a brother to him, which is why it upset jesus to learn of his death and why he was raised from the dead.

The brother of Mary and Martha from Bethany. Mary from Bethany is NOT Mary Magdalene. (Mary Magdalene means she was Mary from the town of Magdala, which clearly is not Bethany.)
