I've been thinking about why we see the evil things people do today - genocide, murder, terrorism. So much of it religiously motivated.
So this is extremism and not the true interpretation of religion in the modern context. People commit atrocities with the belief (faith) they will go to paradise, or that they are doing something for the greater good. But religious moderates also advocate faith, which teaches us to believe without questioning, not to look for the answers to big questions, and not to recognise (not the same as tolerate) any point of view which contradicts what we have faith in. To this end, is faith really a good thing? It doesn't seem right to say "this is private, you can't challenge it, you must respect it" when at best it is a barrier to understanding in the moderate and an incitement murder in the extreme case.

Seems to me that they are pretty good proof of life existing long before we did. If God put them there to 'test' us then God's kind of mean, no?

isn't it odd how all the organs in people's bodies are put together so much 'in order' could be purely chance? Lungs, Liver, Heart, Kidneys.....blood veins, bones, hair, the only thing i can think of that doesn't really serve a purpose right off is the appendix, since people get this removed? I won't ever get how people think people just showed up one day, or 'evolved' from an ape. the mystery still remains who put the ape here? And who put ALL animals here? Everything is Too finely detailed, this is why i will never accept that an explosion in space created the earth & Wow, here i am today?

Most Christians I know (family included) tend to be against the Death Penalty, but doesn't it say in the OT "eye for an eye"?

Hypothetically, if a seven-year-old (one at "the age of reason") who hadn't yet learned of Jesus but was otherwise an innocent, happened to be kidnapped, bound, tortured, raped and killed, why shouldn't we kill the offender? If that poor child is already doomed to an eternity in Hell for not believing, why should the sentence on the perpetrator be any lighter? Of course, according to Christian doctrine, he'll already be spending the rest of eternity in Hell, but so will she. Why shouldn't we mete out a little bit of flesh-and-blood justice to the kidnapper/rapist/pedophile/torturer/murderer to compensate? Thoughts?

Radical Christians who wish to spread their faith by force of arms seem to be increasingly common in the U.S. How do we stop them before they reach critical mass like the Jihadists in some Muslim countries? It is only a matter of time before the War on Terrorism becomes the War on Islam if their numbers continue to increase.

Just a friendly chat/question. I am jewish, and believe that our messiah will come in due time. Could be anyone, but we don't know. I also believe that you don't have to be jewish to get into heaven/the world to come, and that it's based more on actions. The reason i am asking is because i find religion to be an interesting topic, and want to have a topic where there is no "ZOMG U'R GUNNA BURN IN HELLZ" type of comment, though unfortunately it is a bit unrealistic.

NO drama or hate of any kind. If i see ANY of it, then i WILL remove it and report you
