Dear Aune M,

Revealtion is a difficult book to understand without understand several key chapters of the Bible. First let me tell you that a large part of Revelation is quoting prophecy from the OT.

The book itself gives an outline of the things that were, are and are to be.

It talks about the rule not of Satan but off the Anti-Christ. His reign will usher in a 7 year period of false peace and in the middle of his reign he will commit what is known as the abomination of desolation (see the book of Daniel and Matthew 24) where he will demand to be worshipped as God. At that time those who do not have the mark of the beast will not be able to buy or sell.

i would suggest finding some good commenatries because to truly understand revelation you need to know the book of Daniel, the Olivet Discourse from Matthew, Isaiah, and several other Old Testmaent books to understand it in its proper context.

Feel free to email me and i'll suggest some good commentators.

Hope this helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Revelation was written when Christians were entering a time of persecution. The two periods most often mentioned are the latter part of Nero's reign (AD 54-68) and the latter part of Domitian's reign (81-96). Most scholars date the book circa AD 95, although a few suggest a date during the reign of Vespasian (69-79).

Since Roman authorities at this time were beginning to enforce the cult of emperor worship, Christians -- who held that Christ, not Caesar, was their Lord -- were facing increased hostility. In Revelation, believers at Smyrna are warned against coming opposition (2:10), and the church at Philadelphia is told of an hour of trial coming on the world (3:10). The book's author, John, had been exiled to the island of Patmos (probably the site of a Roman penal colony) for his activities as a Christian missionary (1:9). Some within the Church advocated a policy of compromise (2:14-5, 20), which was to be corrected before its subtle influence could undermine the determination of believers to stand fast in the perilous days that lie ahead.

John wrote Revelation to encourage the faithful to staunchly resist the demands of Roman emperor worship. He informs his readers that the final showdown between God and Satan is imminent. Satan will increase his persecution of believers, but they must stand fast, even to the death. They are sealed against any spiritual harm and will soon be vindicated when Christ returns, when the wicked are forever destroyed, and when God's people enter an eternity of glory and blessedness.

For an adequate understanding of Revelation, the reader must recognize that it is a distinct form of literature. Revelation is apocolyptic, a kind of writing that is highly symbolic. Although its visions often seem bizarre to the Western reader, fortunately the book provides a number of clues for its own interpretation (e.g., stars are angels, lampstands are churches, the "great prostitute" is Babylon, and the heavenly Jerusalem is the wife of the Lamb).

Interpreters of Revelation normally fall into four groups:
1. Preterists understand the book exclusively in terms of its first-century setting, claiming that most of its events have already taken place.
2. Historicists take it as describing the long chain of events from Patmos to the end of history.
3. Futurists place the book primarily in the end times.
4. Idealists view it as symbolic pictures of such timeless truths as the victory of good over evil.

Fortunately, the fundamental truths of Revelation do not depend on adopting a particular point of view. They are available to anyone who will read the book for its overall message and resist the temptation to become overly enamored with its details.

Most people,you included will want to apply this book as being fulfilled in this generation.Not so,John was at the Island of Pat mos as the word says on the Lords day.There is a verse in the back of Revelations that says if you add to or take away from this book,God add to and take away from you so be aware of what answers you receive and pray for the understanding,then be prepared because Revelations is exactly what the name of the book implies.Since you didn't give bible reference to where in Revelations you are asking about it is difficult to know how to answer correctly.

it is a revelation given to John, when he was held captive at Patmos.chapter one has a vision of Jesus from verse 9 to 20. chapter two begins with letters dictated to John by Jesus. they are letters to seven different churches at that time, but are alsovery relevant to present day christians.the letters run for two chapters, with the concluding letter to the church at Laodicea.

i cant give you all the info, but there is something that would really help if you are interested, and you really want to know.
i am way out in Africa but assuming you are in the states, i know of people who can give the best bile study on the book of revelation, in tapes, that you can ever have.

Revelation 12:7-9 states: “War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels [the demons] battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.” Ever since then, Satan and his demons have been confined to the vicinity of the earth. Yes, it has happened already.

“the dragon [Satan] gave to the beast its power and its throne and great authority.” (Revelation 12:9; 13:2) What is the beast with the 666 mark? I wont like to disclose it here but I can email you later.

Lamb, is Jesus Christ, during early times, the people of Israel sacrifices blood of animals on the temple in atonement of their sins...Jesus is that 'lamb' whose blood was the sacrifice in atonement of our sins...he presented this blood (life) in front of God himself and not the altar when he went back to heaven.

Dark angels? I havent seen the verse, but it could refer to Satan's minion, the angels who turned away from God and followed Satan.

Buying and selling is actually learning and teaching in that order.

Buying = learning

Selling = teaching

According to the law of correspondences.

The learning and teaching things of religion were corrupted but are now restored.

Friend Satan will not rule for 7 yrs. Daniel's 70 week of prophecy is just about to finish it's course, 69 weeks has already been fulfilled, The last week or 7 yrs. Is when Israel signs a peace treaty with the anti-christ, But no one knows that it is only for 7 yrs. Only God knows that & his Bride, We see Israel having 2 prophets in Israel for the first 1260 days or 31/2 yrs. Their prophecies will go on for the first half Of Daniel's 70th week,. Rev. 8:1-2 & Rev 10:1-7 we see the 7th seal opened & Christ is off the mercy seat, salvation for the Gentiles are over & 2 prophets will prophetcy to Israel causing plaques, You can find that in Rev. Chapter 11 & after the anti-christ has those 2 prophets killed after the 1260 days, that finishes the first half Of Daniel 70th week. Then we see that the 2 prophets body will lay in the street for the whole world to see for 31/2 days, Therefore corruption had already set in, but God says to those 2 prophets Come up hither, Rev.11:10-12 Then the anti-christ (The POPE) will set himself up in the temple of God to be worship as God for 1260 days or 31/2 yrs. this is the last part of Daniel's 70th week, & this is also known as the Great tribulation, Christ & his Bride is at the marriage supper in Heaven, & after those 1260 days of Great tribulation, Christ come back with his Bride & armeggedon is fought, Rev.19:14, Now as far as satan ruling the world, he has been doing that the last 2000 yrs. The anti-christ is NOT satan but the anti-christ is motivated by satan to sit himself in the temple of God. After Armeggedon, Satan will be bound for 1000 yrs while the millennium, is going on, But this don't completely all the way set the end time as what we consider the end, turn to Daniel 12:11-12, We are now looking at the same prophecy for the 70th week, But it goes a little beyond the 7 yrs. or the 1260 days in the first half & 1260 in the 2nd half, We are coming up with 75 days extra, 11: And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away,(this will happen at the end of the first 1260 days) & the abomination that maketh desolate set up(the last 1260 days) there shall be 1290 days, now we are coming up with 30 extra days, & there is a reason for that, but first lets read further, 12: Blessed is he that waiteth & Cometh to the 1335 days, still another 45 extra days making it 75 extra days, for what? Back in Rev. 19:14 Christ is seen coming with his Bride, they will not step foot on this earth instantly, But the 1st 30 days extra will be Armeggedon fought, Then after that war, we see many dead people & don't forget that the anti-christ sat in the temple & polluted it, Christ will not sit in that temple while it is still polluted, Therefore, The temple has to be cleansed & santified, & made holy, Therefore in those 75 extra days, we see Satan is bound after armeggedon & he is bound for 1000 yrs. Now In Daniel 12:12 It says Blessed is he that cometh to the 1335 days, why is these people Blessed, Because they lived through the great tribulation & Armeggedon, & because they had good morals about them God allows them to cross over into the Millennium, to help to repopulate this earth, That is why they are blessed., during the millennium or 1000 yrs of Christ & his Bride ruling & reigning, satan is bound for that 1000 yrs.at the end of that 1000 yrs, he is loosed out of his prison for a short time, what for? He has to test & tempt everyone that was born during that millennium, Because God is a Just God & everything has to be tested, any that did not follow the leadership of Christ & his Bride in the millennium, will be killed, & those who did obey will go into the eternal age, And after the 1000 yrs. We also see the Great white Throne Judgement, Rev. 20:4-15, All wicked is raised from the dead & Judged & Hell & the wicked & satan will be cast into the lake of Fire. So Friend Satan Or more clearly the anti-christ does not sit & rule those 7 yrs. But Satan will annoint the anti-christ at the end of the 2 prophets ministry which is the first 1260 days, or 31/2 yrs. & then the anti-christ will sit himslef up in the temple for the alst 1260 days, or 31/2 yrs., So the anti-christ will only rule for 31/2 yrs & that is the last half of Daniel's prophecy, or 1260 days. And also my friend That mark of the Beast will not be world wide, But only in the prophetic world or the middle east, & the reason it is not worldwide, Why would Israel flee into the wilderness at the beginning of the great tribulation just to be caught up in that mark. Israel will flee to a place where the mark is not at & neither can the anti-christ get to those who flee, Now what country was formed out of the wilderness, North America, The USA & Canada. I hope this helps you. You can also find more information on this at www.fachurch.org
