I'm getting fed up with my fellow atheists who ask questions only to inflame christians.
or
The ones who ask why are christians hypocrites.
I have christian relatives and would never act like I'm holier than thou.
I think we could do better.
We are the ones who act like hypocrites sometimes and not the christians.
Its time we practice what we preach!

Sorry for such a silly question, but I have recently started studying with a sister from the local Kingdom Hall for the past few weeks, and I have noticed that all of the women in the congregation wear dresses or skirts only (no pants or slack) and the men wear only suits. Is there a policy, because when I first started attending the meetings, I was wearing slacks, but recently switched to skirts so I wouldn't be an oddball. If there is a policy, what about winters? It gets really cold in my area sometimes, and dresses/skirts just don't cut it. Thank you!

Why is the God of the OT, Jehovah, so opposite of The Father of the NT?

The NT describes The Father as pure light with no darkness at all. (1 john 1:5, Acts 26:18, James 1:17)

Yet Jehovah of the OT is associated over and over again with thick darkness. (1 Kings 8:12, 2 Chronicles 6:1, Amos 5:18, Amos 5:20, Lamentations 3:2, Psalm 97:2, Isaiah 45:3, Exodus 20:21, Deuteronomy 5:22-23, 2 Samuel 22:12)

In John 7:16 of the NT we are told that it is impossible for the true God to lie.

Yet in the OT we are told that Jehovah has lying spirits at his command. (1 Kings 22:19-23, 2 Chronicles 18:18-22) He even admits that he decieved prophets himself (Ezekiel 14:9)

Why are we told in the NT that God is Love (1 John 4:8) and that love (therefore God) is not Jealous, & does not think evil(1 Corinthians 13)

Yet the OT says that Jehovah is a Jealous god (exodus 20:5, 34:14) & he has evil spirits at his command. (Judges 9:23)

These are only a few of the stark contrasts.

There are people who are mentally troubled, people who have made mistakes, people who are arrogant and self-righteous, people who cannot empathise with others... but there is no 'evil' for me.

There can be evil deeds, sure, but no evil people.
