I take online college classes and so far i have straight A's and a 4.0 GPA. I take great pride in the fact that I worked so hard to get these grades. So why would having pride in my grades be a sin?

I was also raised republican. I mean no disrespect to our lord in asking this question, I just wonder why we believe what we believe. I know that God watches over me and blesses me when I am deserving, but I am not sure how much that has to do with my religon as it does with me as a person. I feel that God listens to me when I pray to Him. I don't think He does only because I am Catholic. Just curious what the awnser may be. Thank you!

I'm trying to find out why atheists are moral. So far I've just gotten the answer that atheists are moral because they want to benefit society.

But why would an atheist refrain from being immoral even when being moral would harm them, individually? I know that many atheists do refrain from unethical, immoral acts, even when such immoral acts would benefit them personally. But my question is: why?

So far, most atheists I have talked to have responded by saying things like "and why shouldn't I be moral???!!" And while such defensive responses are understandable, they don't bring me any closer to understanding where atheists are coming from.

If you are an atheist, please let me know why you do the right thing, even when it doesn't benefit you personally. I know this is a personal question, but please help me understand where you are coming from. You represent a significant percentage of the population and I really want to understand your worldview better. Email me!

Do you think Abraham was right for being ready to sacrifice his son or do you think he should have told God something like "Sorry, but I can't commit murder of an innocent child."

What is the "real" purpose of joining a monastery? It's like they're hiding out from reality? I guess I don't understand why people would choose to hide themselves away from the rest of the world? They sing, chant, hide themselves, eat, sleep, work to what purpose? Do they help anyone? Or are they moochers?

My wife and I, in an effort to meet some local people, because we are new to Denver, had a wife swapping party.

Because we did not know most of the guests, who are from our church, it was a bit of a gamble as to how it would go off. My wife made salads, I cooked a barbeque and we had some fresh lemonade.

When the action started there was a circle of five men around my wife. My wife is pregnant but only 3 months.

Then the man who was kneeling behind my wife started saying cursewords.

I threw him and his wife out.

This really lowered the tone of the whole evening. For me the atmosphere was ruined. Needless to say my wife and I will not be inviting them to our future orgies.

This got me to thinking - is there ever a situation in which the Lord might forgive us for swearing?

Some people believe that the man Jesus was killed, that his body was laid to rest, that he came back to life, then he, in his bodily form, ascended to "heaven."

Yet, a lot of people also believe that heaven is a spiritual realm.

So, what happened?

If he physically ascended from wherever he was, up into the sky, what happened?

Did his body go somewhere? If so, we should be able to find it if it's still in the physical realm.

Did his body disintegrate gradually as he went up and up?

Or is it some sort of metaphor? Possibly like all humans, his body simply turned to dust, but his spirit went to heaven?

God(which doesn't exist) is invisible. That's all to it

If God(which is fake) doesn't respect me enough to SHOW himself physically, **** him. He doesn't deserve my attention

I know he doesn't exist, i'm just playing with your fairy tale

I have made several prayer requests (check my profile) for my close friend April, who has been in the hospital for more than 4 months. She was in a coma for over a month, after her cowardly ex b/f gave her a severe concussion.

Doctors weren't sure she would ever come out of coma and they claimed she had 65% permanent brain damage, with very little chance of any significant recovery.

I found this very difficult to accept, as April certainly didn't deserve to suffer so much at such a young age (23). I prayed that God would help April fully regain her health, and I had faith that she would be healed.

For those who have offered their prayers & kind words to my previous requests, you have my sincere thanks ...... April came out of her coma about a month ago, and she is showing steady improvement as time passes. She is now able to recognize close friends & communicate with them : )

All Praise be to God !

Have you ever got that feeling talking to someone, after they left?

Angels come as Spirits, or in body form, as a human.

So you should always be nice to people-strangers like Jesus was, you never know if your entertaining Angels.
