I believe the term "mooch" means to freeload, to leech.

I don't think that this word can be applied to Religion and even less, to Spirituality.

There was another person who asked a question, which is evidently the source of your question, regarding monks in a monastery, calling them moochers.

They say ignorance is bliss and that person was full of bliss.

Primo, monks grow their own food and raw materials, so that they have the least need for the outside World. Remember that a "moocher" is a freeloader?

Secundo, monks regularly take excursions out to perform their duty of helping other without reward!? Many teach, without pay. They always take care of those who are wounded or sick and abandoned. Far cry from "mooching", don't you think? Especially, because they share their simple resources with the ones in need, often going hungry themselves, so that they can feed the afflicted.

Terrio, they focus their attention on God and self-realization. Where's the "mooching" in this?

Pax Vobiscum, Pax Dominic
