Well, we're supposed to overcome evil with good. I've handed many a situation over to God and just prayed about it. There are some things (like other people's actions) that are completely beyond our control. We just have to let go and let God. I dont' think any of us has the power to overcome true evil.

On the surface you would overcome evil with good. However, God uses evil to bring out the ultimate good. That's why bad things often happen to good people.

Good overcomes evil. To illustrate: Good is light. Evil is darkness. You can turn on a flashlight and it will pierce the darkness. But you can't turn on a dark beam and have it shine through anything, as darkness carries no light.

evil+evil=twice as much evil, either that or the old evil is gone but the new evil remains, so evil will never be overcome until good enters into the equation

I find that overcoming evil with good is ultimately more satisfying. I sleep better at night. Usually if you sit back and watch karma do the smackdown, you're better off.

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
