i have read the bible before and guess what it only helped me talk to myself and tell me how ridiculous some of these stories are

Sometimes He does but most of our hearts have been so hardened we can't even recognize it when it's God Himself speaking. There is so much chaos, noise and confusion going on all around us all day. There is a verse in the Bible that says, "Be still and know I am God." It's harder for us to hear Him because in this day & age how many of us actually find the time or take the time to "be still" and just listen for Him? We are too busy with our social calendars and work and kids and extra-curricular actiivtes. There is always someone else talking, somewhere to go or something to do.
It's a shame but the truth is we've gotten too busy for God.

I am reminded of a BC comic strip from a few years back. It shows one of the cavemen on his knees praying "If you are out there God, speak to me".
In the next panel shows the ground shaking, a flaming cross in the sky, a burning bush, a lightning bold striking the ground in front of him, and a giant hand carving words in the rock wall behind him.
BC looks up and says, "Why is it that whenever I pray, all this stuff happens and I can't hear God?"
God does speak to people everyday, in plain and understandable ways. But too often we don't listen or don't recognize his voice.

Some gods are more direct than others. 'God', of the Bible, has so many different ideas about Him from so many different sects that He may actually be paralyzed by the conflicting expectations placed upon Him.

I do think that he would give them some kind of sign, yes. Loud booming voice from above...not unless the message was, "Here, have a stroke."
I don't believe anyone who claims to know what God thinks or how God will judge.

God does tell you things directly!!! If people would just be still and listen they would hear the voice of God clear!!!! I pray for all to have ears to hear!!!!!

If god is real I think he is either impotent or a jerk... else he would't allow 1/1000 of the **** that goes on in this world.

not necessarily, but if so we don't see much of it anymore in our society. These days, I think He works more through other people and circumstances than directly.

yes, i do agree with you, it seems kind of strange to me that even for specific guidance I don't believe there is much of it today. but they always say that the problem is with the "hearer" just like always. i don't really think so anymore.
