Personally I believe it was own hard work that landed me the job. God did not prepare me for the interviews. He did not dry clean my suits. He didn't clear traffic so I would get there on time( I left early). These are all things that I did because of my own drive. Why should some absentee voter of a deity get any credit for my hard work?

What did they do or not do that helped or influenced you. Did you stay the same or did you change?

Several times in Psalms, David talks about salvation but the book of Romans tells us that if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, and that He was raised from the dead, we are saved. That did not happen in the Old Testament. So what was David talking about? Was salvation available to them through sacrifice? Could it not be taken away if the sacrifice was rejected? How costly must atonement have been?I really want to know.

earlier i ran into the mother of my friend who is an extremely intelligent, good-natured and sensitive girl but whose life is not working out. she suffers from severe depression and there may also be something else. I know where it comes from; the relationship with her mom. It makes me so depressed to know it may be too late. I've tried to help her but either her mom intervenes or she just doesn't have enough strength to pursue a path to a brighter future and she is already 26. I won't go into detail regarding everything about her life because it would be too long but it breaks my heart to know that somebody so beautiful could have a completely different life if they were brought up in a healthy family environment (she can't study, doesn't go out, she's always at home or at the doc's.

What are your thoughts on that & remember - you can't judge someone's life from your perspective and the kind of person you are. Some people just can't try as hard as you can no matter what.

Thanx.

Short of all the buzz words like defining points; what I want to know is have you always believed the way you do today? If no, what changed your mind? Can you remember the event or events that lead to your change of heart?

Any chance we get a few theads that stay at the top of this sight such as definitions of Pascals Wager and the refutation of the Argument from Design. Getting tiring to answer all those who cannot be bothered to read even a basic treatise on the philosophy underlying their beliefs.

Any suggestions for more topics?

For example, do you vote Republican because of its inherrent Christian nature? Would you even consider voting for a candidate outside your 'comfort zone' or religious affiliation?

I am an observer and I don’t choose religion as a way of life, and I don’t know how much difference this would impact on the way I lead my life!
All civilised opinions appreciated
Thank you

I've been watching this site for a couple days now and I have to say, all this back and forth banter has led me to a conclusion. It's simply this: No body really "knows" whether god exists or not. All the questions and answers that claim any "knowledge" of god's existence just turn me off immediately. Religion and spirituallity are not science. They are belief systems! We can't prove he exists...and we can't prove he doesn't. We are all free to choose a belief system that feels right for us. But believing something doesn't make it true or false. Our beliefs will not change what is ultimately true. We can have very strong feelings about our belief systems, but strong feelings do not equal truth. I guess the question is this. Can all types of believers unite around the simple concept that this whole "god and his existence" subject boils down to nothing more than what individuals, and group's of people, believe?? I don't know if there's a god. Neither do you. Comments?

If you believe God does exist, you lose nothing if he doesn’t exist. If he does, you may gain happiness and eternal life. Comments.

OF course he did. However there is an unwritten revelation. if both adam and eve had refused to eat and all temptations of satan would they have grown up eternally and become the sons of God without sin?
But God cannot know what people will do until they do it! Especially in a controlled environment...
He knew that both trees were offered, both choices were offered equally, therefore statistically it was a 50/50 chance, probability that either choice could be made.

I sort of like the ideas that Catholics have about keeping faith to themselves in terms of not being boastful about knowing the Holy Spirit and not wearing their religion on their sleeve. It's about solitude, praying alone, worshipping alone, having a personal relationship with God. I know Catholics have a bad rap for the way they treat women (and little boys at times). Why do you think that is? What's so bad about being Catholic?

Denial, aint no river in egypt. It's real, and are you in it?
I pose this question, because I have found that denial cushions the blow of turmoil that self discovery can cause, it also inhibits it. NOw I pose this question, because some beg to live it, and others want to be freed from it. The actions you commit upon this word is a result of your perception in others, and yourself. Is that perception clouded with what you know by the mouths of others, and the status you receive by listening. Or do you stand in the thick of the fire from the words others weave, and challenge them to deceive you. Does this scare you? The only way to self discovery is to rid yourself of beliefs, and find more than beliefs, but the prinicples of yourself. Have you done that? Or is it much easier to find strength in numbers. Just wondering. Do you ask the question why, or is just easier to say I have no right to question. I wish you well

I was recently at a Catholic wedding mass. When it was time for communion I saw a couple who I know for sure is protestant get up and receive the sacrament of communion at the catholic mass. The priest had no way of knowing this. Have things changed in the Catholic church or was this couple wrong to do this? I thought one had to be a Catholic in good standing and I thought most people knew this. Also, after the mass, I saw the woman take her children and walk all over the altar, like it was a tourist attraction, walking way back where the priest stands and where the sacraments are kept. Was I wrong to see this as disrepectful? I am not Catholic but, I would not do this.
