Or molest you, or steal your wallet, or....when does the offense get to the point where you can use lethal force to defend yourself? Religions may have different views, laws may be different in different societies, you may not agree with any for your own reasons. What do you think?

I don't mean to be funny, but here in godless Britain we keep hearing how 75% of all Americans call themselves devout Christians, and 35% believe the Earth is 6000 years old and atheists there all try to hide their beliefs, yet Yahoo Answers is awash with atheists with some brilliant questions! It is very encouraging. Do any of you have any atheist friends who do NOT use Y!A? It would be great to think this was actually just a tiny proportion of American atheists, partly to give the lie to the statistics about your country, and partly because the stats above reflect the spiritual makeup of Britain 150 years ago when it was the world superpower! (There will be some reading who didn't know that; yes, I know we're not now, and it's fine.)

I love the US and Americans, but what proportion of American atheists do you think are represented on Y!A? Have the American religious right (at last) got grounds to be nervous? Can we expect an epidemic of critical thinking to break out there soon?

I was raised Catholic (both parents are lapsed Catholics, who don't go to Church other than Christmas and Easter), though I enjoy going every Sunday.

My dilemma is that I don't believe in many of the Catholic teachings (Papal infaliabilty and rule changing, Purgatory, priest-only Reconcilliation). My husband is an Evangelical Christian, and I tend to think the same as him on many points (perhaps because he is very convincing, and I don't honestly know enough about Catholicism to defend my 'beliefs'?).

However, I don't agree with the 'speaking in tongues' part of their worship (which happens each service, and which I honestly find quite un-nerving), although I do believe in 'laying on of the hands'. I also find that I like the calmness and discipline of Catholic worship as opposed to their method of shouting out and waving their arms.

Should I start going to his church (an idea which I am about 80% uncomfortable with) or continue going to Mass, even if I don't believe fully in it?

Strategically, there is always a last line of defense. In the military world, they can be overrun. In theological debates, faithfuls always seem rational when argumenting until they decide to be offended and claim "blasphemy". That is their last line of defense from which no one can really fish them out. It is a convenient position that vehiculates sacredness to an avoidance of answering. I thus claim unfairness in debates with those who scream "Foul" when they have nothing more to defend themselves with. I welcome debates where theists will answer honestly and without looking for a sanctuary whenever they get verbally licked. Challenge anyone?

Ezekiel 18.20 says: "Only the one who sins shall die. The son shall not be charged with the guilt of his father, nor shall the father be charged with the guilt of his son. The virtuous man's virtue shall be his own, as the wicked man's wickedness shall be his own."

This means that everybody is responsible and accountable for their own sins, and nobody can take anybody's sins. However Christians believe that prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) took away all the Christians sins and for that all the Christians shall go to Heaven. This contradicts with the teachings of the Bible.

Jesus taught people to judge not lest ye be judged, yet my religion is judged all of the time by Christians trying to convert me. I could understand trying to share their beliefs in a kind manner, but I have had my Buddhist beliefs insulted by many. My question is, if someone tries to degrade my beliefs in order to elevate theirs, can they truely call themself a follower of Jesus Christ, who taught compassion and understaning?

I came from my galaxy to investigate this world. I found it, behind a corner and a second sufficed me. to know that here they float of the hand the trivial things and the deep things and in the vicious circular of the man on their feats I discovered things of good appearance but without bowels, the hunger and the caviar under their eyelashes and women that perfume their indecency with chanel and they disguise of Oscar de la renta an unfaithful body. I discovered that here the love is an unfinished hypothesis, that has a vague idea but continues diffuse. I don’t know how the poets do to find their muses, here the man is the one that has women and life of storm without knowing that man is the one that has one and maintains her happy. in the other side of the sun there is a world in decadence is not a coincidence that land rhymes with war. in the other side of the sun there is a world in decadence is not a coincidence that human rhyme with tyrant is incredible but here nobody spreads

I already posted the question but I think people misunderstood the degree to which science can be wrong.
When I said Newtonian Physics has in the past 100 years been "proven" to be incomplete and flawed I don't think people understood the degree to which I meant science can reverse it's opinion. Quantum physics is NOT relativistic theory. This time I think it's the athiest that are ignorant. Einstein himself said "God does not play dice" when referring to quantum physics.
Quantum physics threatens (quite justifiably) the foundation of all scientific understanding of the universe. Where newtonian physics is based on a continious function quantum physics is based on discontinuity. This is a way oversimplification because I don't have room to explain it so don't just respond to point that out.
My point is that Science is NOT based on fact. Science is based on observation. A subtle difference but a fatal one in light on the new Quantum Theory. Is your faith worth the gamble?

"sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven" (Mat 19: 21)

"sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven" (Mar 10: 21)

"sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven" (Luk 18: 22)

When Jesus was asked what people needed to do to get into heaven in addition to obeying to the 10 commandments, he said nothing about accepting either himself or the holy spirit into one's heart, he was recorded as saying the above. It is gospel truth, in three gospels.
