Is there any significance to the number 4 in Hinduism?

There are 4 castes....4 stages of life.....4 parts to every Veda (Upanishads,Forest writings and...Bhagavid Gita) and other examples of 4 of something coming up....what is the significance, if any?

Seems to be no real interest in understanding the Hindu religion
4(four) has no significancce in Hinduism-It is not "Forest Writing"-poor translation for "Aaranyaka"--the text is so vast,the methodology for searching a verse needs expertise-lest it would be like searching a tree in a forest-Somayaji
