When the heaven is cleft asunder,
When the planets are dispersed,
When the seas are poured forth,
And the sepulchres are overturned,
A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
Lo! there are above you guardians,
Generous and recording,
Who know (all) that ye do.
Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
And will not be absent thence.
Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.

"and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you." Leviticus 11

And furthermore, why did God say you shall not eat they are unclean to you. Obviously there is a way to make them safe to eat as we do this all the time now. Why did God not just tell them how to correctly prepare it. He gives them guidelines for everything else in the Old Testament.

How do you know if a living thing's got a soul or not?

I have to write a research paper in my religion class, and my topic is "Symbolism of fire in the Old Testament". I would like to know everyones favorite story from the Old Testament THAT HAS A FIRE ELEMENT IN IT please, like Moses and the burning bush, Elijah taking on the prophets of Baal on mt. Carmel, etc. I would also like stuff from Islam, mythology, ancient writings, anything that is religious and has fire as an important part of the story. Please, please, PLEASE give your source and the reference (if it has one) so I can use it in my paper!
I am doing my own research, but I thought it would be interesting to see what ya'll have to say! Help me get an A!

There are recent examples in here, from the most outspoken proclaimed-Christians, saying "God bless you," when they are oh-so-irritated. Here is another example of what I interpreted as a passive-aggressive "F-you": "Oh my! Did I open a big can of worms or what? There is so much hate in our world. So sorry most of you live in it. Being a Christian, it is something I think of when one dies. Sorry to cause such conviction in many of your hearts. I do feel sorrow for his family."

It seems that the tone and context often contradict the words. Would Christians get more respect if they just said what they meant?

I am veg & i have full faith in Hindu Religion or u can say in Mata Rani & all other Avtars. Sometimes I practises path-pooja too. Can i have nonveg food on some days.

There r so many persons who goes to Mata Chintpurni, have fasts on some holy days. But i am surprised to know that they take nonveg food on others days. Is it OK acc. to Hindu Mythology.
