That technique where you try to on the one hand make everyone feel guilty about something, and alternate that with the vague promises of eternal life, so that the congregation is never quite 100 per cent sure if they are going to go to heaven or whatever the reward of your religion is. Is it something you learn in seminary school and if so, does it have a name?

Not that the equasion always works in the other direction, of course. But, yeah, I keep hearing "Oh they're not Christain, they're Catholic", and it makes my brain hurt. It's like people are mixing up the definitions of "Christain" and "Protestent."

I've heard something about praying to the saints, like Protestents have a problem with that sometimes? Going by what Catholics have told me, praying to saints something like asking your boss' friend to talk to your boss for you; they don't worship the saints. Or, at least, the Catholics I know don't.

If it worships Jesus, it's a Christain. Catholics worship Jesus. So yeah.

Maybe my little mind can't comprehend the subtleties here or something, but it all seems fairly straightforward to me...

I've accepted Christ as my savior and recently rededicated my life to the Lord. Today, I've been trying to get my mind around the idea that God has forgiven me of my sins. Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood for my sins ... but I'm having trouble getting my mind around how this works. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not doubting my faith at all ... I just somehow don't understand the mechanics of this.

I get that “You are going to burn in Hell” speech, all the time. If I come back with some kind of comment like, :”Good, and I will keep all the child molesting priests company”, I get sent to “Sensitivity Training”.

My girlfriends’ boss kept hounding people, and telling them that they can’t gave any religious items on their desks that are not Christian. Well, that came to an end. They all got together and got her terminated. : )

Firstly, I'm Christian, but I refuse to take sides or be biased. There's a widely-promulgated doctrine that once you become a Christian, you're "safe" and can never go to hell. Thing about lies is that they'll turn up inconsistencies. The Truth, no matter how you bend it, will always return to an upright position. There is eternal security, yes, and no one can "snatch them out of " Jesus' hands, yes. But we have free will, and so we can WALK AWAY of our own choice. God won't stop anyone from walking away from Him. Moreover, the epistles in the Bible were written ONLY to Christians. If Christians couldn't go to hell, why would the writers stress for them not to live in sin and tell them continually that no one who habitually lies, steals, murders, gossips, etc. will ever get into Heaven. Did the authors write all this simply for the sake of wristlock while dipping quill in ink? Of course not. Some plan to use ignorance as their ace, but igorance was never really bliss.

Let's say you have a robot with a mind of it's own... it can, think, speak and act for its self. It's almost human with the exception of an organ body... is it alive? Does it have a soul? If not what does constitute something as having a soul?

Couldn't it be true that God was bored, so on the 1st day bang, 100,000 years later God looks around bored once more and does his thing. That was the 2nd day and so on. I can't imagine time was measured in 24 hour days, before we even had day and night. Also "Cruel God" if you made an ant farm would you look so close that you'd stop one ant biting another. No. So why would God especially as we are so ungrateful. Maybe God made 100's of worlds and our is one of the worst. Not worth the effort. Just a thought.

Bad doings may include for example having sex with multiple partners, one night stands, high body exposure (i.e. dressing very naughty), cheating others, theft, etc....which all really have a bad effect on the community eventually.

I heard a story once told about a man who waited for his date at a cozy coffee shop for hours and hours and hours. It was an illustration of how Jesus waits for us to come to him. Does anyone know where I can find this illustration or has anyone heard it before or one similar?

Will there be a one world religion? They seem to all predict they are the only true religion/ maybe they are the one world government? They have caused, probably, 90% of the world's death, or more, for one reason or another.

I have spent many years thinking about this question. I believe in god, and I work to create a good life for myself and as many people as I can. I however have not accepted Christ as my savior. I have gone to church, read the literature, prayed and thought about this. I believe Christ to be a spiritual master - but the whole sacrifice thing never sits well with me. What I wonder is why this would land me in eternal punishment? Would God not know that I had struggled to believe as the bible says I should? Does my quality of life not matter at all? I feel that I continue to struggle to find a way to believe all aspects of scripture and I do not want to walk around prophesing something I do not hold as truth deep in side. So am I just doomed to be damned?

In dinosaur days there was NO existence of mankind. How could the bible be real? Just curious.

Another thing. If the bible was real, in the bible it says God created the Heavens and "Earth" but the universe itself is bigger than what we can imagine. So what about other planets and space. Why doesn't mention this in the bible.

Can someone explain to what is a Jew? Why is it in the religous community there's negative energy surrounding a Jew. What is the story on this. I've always heard of Jew's and stuff, but what the issue?
