It's meant to be facetious and wry... that the only way in which we're all the same is that we're all different. We all share that same characteristic - being DIFFERENT from everyone else.

This is a classic example of simple word-play, something that the English language carries very well. No other language would allow such an apparently absurd statement.
As for it's meaning... well, it's my belief that we were created unique. Others would contend the idea of 'creation' and say we were born, or developed, unique.
Either way the overall message is the same: Each of us is different in many ways, and therefore unique. We can take comfort and joy in our individuality but we must respect the right of others to do the same, and we should also take an interest in these unique beings that surround us. Alas, the fact that the world is so full of bigotry and paranoia suggests that this isn't happening very much.

uniqueness well what can i say? Everybody is unique in their own way, but they do share their uniqueness throughout the world though! Nobody is unique or an individual really, look at the big big picture somebody in the world will have the same trait as you so you are really not unique. So what I am trying to say is Unique and individual are pretty useless words.

Yes, it is funny. But everyone is unique, and the 'like everyone else' bit is just one similarity. Loads of people share characteristics, it doesn't make them exactly the same. If you think about it, uniqueness is just another characteristic, on that everyone happens to have.

"You are unique, just like everyone else" is unique.
Seems simple to me. God only made one of you and one of everyone else and gifted each of us with different anointings, purposes and spiritual gifts.
There has only been one Sandy S. in the history of the world, there is currently only one Sandy S. now and there will never be another Sandy S. in the future. I'd say that not only am I unique, but I am special and blessed in God's eyes.

I once received a card from a friend with this exact phrase " You are unique, just like everyone else" i laugh because how can i be unique when i`m like everyone else? Well i guess for my own point of views, it means we are unique in our own ways like everyone else is unique with their own ways, meaning we individuals are unique as it is. Everyone is unique like you, you are unique just like me-

heh. well obviously if youre unique youre not like everyone else but i think the person is saying that everyone is unique, and that uniqueness is shared by everyone.
i disagree with it, people usually put themselves in little groups that tend to have similar opinions on many things. while they are all unique they do share many similar aspects.
its a laod of crap i say. people peg themselves into holes...so its a load.

Depending on how you read it, we may not be as unique as we think, but I like to think it just means that we are all unique which is normal!

A similar statement is often said by prison governors.
"You are innocent, just like everyone else."
It's called sarcasm.
