According to Revelations in the Bible, there will come a time when all who do not believe in God and in Jesus as the true Messiah will worship the Antichrist. That following of the Antichrist will be the one world religion. There will also be one world government that will establish seven years of false peace before the battle of Armageddon begins.
Religion isn't evil. Human nature is evil. Man by nature is self centered and wants to be his own god or boss. He dosen't care about anyone else. We have to be taught to be good. One of the main reasons for religion is to teach people to be good to each other and not be self centered. Those who do not really have a genuine relationship with God through Jesus Christ have used religion as an excuse to do what they want to do for a long time, but its not religions fault.

The world's evil is Satan, who is behind false religion. What the Bible terms " Babylon the Great". Revelation says it has dealings with " the Kings of the earth". Commonsense says this is the governments of the earth. Also the "travelling merchants" are also involved. Again commonsense says this must be the business world. Revelation also says that "Babylon" sits on many 'waters'. This means that false religion controls many people. And these people are warned to ' get out of her'. Rev. 18;4Â And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues.
False religion is to be destroyed by the governments of the world.
Verse 21;21Â And a strong angel lifted up a stone like a great millstone and hurled it into the sea, saying: “Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again.

Well the thing is is that the development of religion has already taken many forms in various cultures. "Organized religion" generally refers to an organization of people supporting the exercise of some religion with a prescribed set of beliefs, often taking the form of a legal entity. Other religions believe in personal revelation and responsibility.
Bottom line: All cultures are different in all countries, therefore each religion is different. And because of those differences, there is some misunderstandings & miscommunication. Which eventually leads to debate, and inevitably - war.

Personally I hope not, I believe religions (in their purest forms) are a necessary stepping stone on the path to spirituality and enlightenment. I relish in the diversity of religion on this planet as it gives me so much opportunity to learn to express and give thanks for the beauty I see in this world everyday.
I believe that ALL the worlds religions have attempted to look into the face of the 'One True God' and as imperfect human beings have understandably failed to appreciate him in ALL of his glory. The result is that each has glimpsed only a part of the truth and attempted (and failed) to fill in most of the blanks.
If we assume or believe that there is One True God (as I do), surely all nations, creeds an colours, from the highest born to the lowest of the low, are ALL loved by him/her/it :) No religion can possibly claim to be a true reflection of God, when each is also corrupted by the fallacy of mankind. Lets stop getting bogged down with the details in our religions that we disagree on and celebrate the message of peace and love present in all of our faiths.
And thankfully, despite mankind's best efforts, through murder and war, religious or otherwise, the majority of deaths on this earth are still accidental or by natural causes.

Actually the three paths of Abraham, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, are responsible for the majority of the worlds pain and suffering. There is nothing truly redeeming about any of them, and those that follow these paths usually are amongst the most violent and warlike peoples on Earth.
I've always thought that if we did away with them, that most of the major social ills that afflict the people of the world would slowly start to go away.

Human beings are curious about their world, their lives, their origin and destiny. Long, long ago, there were stories (today we call them myths, like the Garden of Eden myth) that attempt to provide an answer. These myths also provided a sort of guide of how to relate to other people (Ethics) and how to relate to Nature. Many if not all of these myths contained stories about "gods" (many of whom resembled humans, like the Greek gods). Polytheism, as a many gods religion is called, is a religious attitude that does not provoke evil.
All humans seemed to have been polytheists at one time or another. In their early history, the Jews were polytheists. Then one fateful day, they decided, in a moment of desperation, that ONE of their many gods was the one, true god and would save them from destruction. This start of monotheistic religion is what caused and causes so much of the world's evil because if there is one, true god, then your gods must be false gods, if they aren't my god. As we know, this monotheism eventually led to the present situation of three monotheisms, each with the one, true god. If I am right and you are wrong and nothing can show that you are right and I am wrong, then only enmity and opposition can exist between us, and these eventually lead to war and eventually to the desire to destroy and demolish the other. We can't live in peace and accept each other's gods so long as we insist that there is only one god--my god.
Mono-mania, not religion per se, is the world's evil.

Consult the bible. Religion is caring for orphans and the widows among us and keeping oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27) There is nothing evil in that.
Faith and belief in the salvation of the Lord is another thing all together. Contact me if you want to know more.
God bless you.

Nope. The world's greatest, ongoing and seemingly inescapable evil is stupidity. People are stupid, and that stupidity will often spread like a chain reaction; one person does or says something stupid, a second picks it up, and so on. Of course, people often get stupid about religion, but that, imo, is a way of venting something that preexists religion or most of what we consider culture.

That is untrue...
Possibly 200 million people have died from secular regimes and wars. World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam War, Korean War, Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2, various civil wars worldwide, Leninist and Stalinist Russia, Communist China, Communist Cuba, Communist North Korea, Pol Pot's Cambodia, the Communist regime in Laos, and various revolutionary wars worldwide, it goes on and on. The past, the present, and unfortunately in the future.

Not necessarily....It could be corrupt and selfish mind of man also...All depends on how a man interprets what is good and what is bad from the preachings of a religion...I think a religion is just a source for man to place his trust and belief in any kind of God just to move forward in life...
