That technique where you try to on the one hand make everyone feel guilty about something, and alternate that with the vague promises of eternal life, so that the congregation is never quite 100 per cent sure if they are going to go to heaven or whatever the reward of your religion is. Is it something you learn in seminary school and if so, does it have a name?

Hey Keyser -

This time the usual suspects are all in your head! Except for perhaps some of the TV evangelists.

BTW, most of the self-respecting non-theists have gotten tired of baiting the Christians and just resumed our lives.

If they bother you so much, perhaps you should see what unresolved issues in your life you need to deal with. If for example, in the past, some Christian has gotten you upset, why don't you see if you can see how they managed to get under your skin?

It is a common fallacy to attribute negative motivation to people whom you disagree with - I encourage you to think more openly. There are well-meaning people on both sides of almost every debate.

Life is too short to play that game.

Why do you make the assumption that this is a universal truth about the ministry? While some do use the apple and stick model to control their congregations, many ministers aren't interested in "controlling" their flocks at all.

It is perfectly normal to preach being good simply because it is the right thing to do. Not even every Christian operates from a "believe or else" model.

What you posit does indeed have a name: fallacious assumption.

Apparently you do not go to Church. My church is not like that.
Church is to build up the Christian for the week ahead. It's where we go to get well from the daily toils of life.

You may be talking about REVIVAL where there are salvation messages that warn others the consequences of SIN....that's where the Hell and brimstone come in. There is a place and time for that kind of service, usually on Sunday mornings.
So go on Sunday nite or Wednesdays for midweek services and you won't learn:

There's only one reason, one reason for a sinner to repent and that's because Jesus Christ deserves the worship and adoration and the love and the obedience of his heart. Not because he'll go to heaven. If the only reason you repented, dear friend, was to keep out of Hell all you are is JUST A LEVITE SERVING FOR TEN SHEKELS AND A SHIRT! THAT'S ALL! You're trying to serve God because He'll do you good! But a repentant heart is a heart that has seen something of the enormity of the crime of playing God and denying the just and righteous God the worship and obedience that He deserves! Why should a sinner repent? BECAUSE GOD DESERVES THE OBEDIENCE AND LOVE THAT HE'S REFUSED TO GIVE HIM! Not so that he'll go to heaven. If the only reason he repents is so that he'll go to heaven, it's nothing but trying to make a deal or a bargain with God.

WHY SHOULD A SINNER GIVE UP ALL HIS SINS? WHY SHOULD HE BE CHALLENGED TO DO IT? WHY SHOULD HE MAKE RESTITUTION WHEN HE'S COMING TO CHRIST? BECAUSE GOD DESERVES THE OBEDIENCE THAT HE DEMANDS!!!

I believe that the only ones whom God actually witnesses by His Spirit and are born of Him, are the people, whether they say it or not, that come to Jesus Christ and say something like this, "Lord Jesus, I'm going to obey you, and love you, and serve you, and do what you want me to do, as long as I live even if I go to Hell at the end of the road, simply because YOU ARE WORTHY TO BE LOVED, AND OBEYED, AND SERVED, and I 'm not trying to make a deal with you!"

"and he peered like a angle of light...." as quoted from the bible. In this case he repersents Satan who misslead all who are looking for truth. Such biphasic interplay are indeed is link to the properganda of main stream religion. At this point will take you back to the first centery as to thanks of all so called high and mighty priest of the day who refused to listen to the simple teachings of Christ Jesus. henforth these tachings of so called repasinatives of God was passed down to modern so called teachers of God who cliam to know God personaly but do they??

Concider what Jesus told there forfathers "You vipers come from your father the devil."

there may be some preachers who are like that. But most of them are honest. They themselves have questions but that doesnt mean they deceive people.
And by the way, If you are referring to Christianity, I would have to tell you, you are the one who have a vague understanding.
