Firstly, I'm Christian, but I refuse to take sides or be biased. There's a widely-promulgated doctrine that once you become a Christian, you're "safe" and can never go to hell. Thing about lies is that they'll turn up inconsistencies. The Truth, no matter how you bend it, will always return to an upright position. There is eternal security, yes, and no one can "snatch them out of " Jesus' hands, yes. But we have free will, and so we can WALK AWAY of our own choice. God won't stop anyone from walking away from Him. Moreover, the epistles in the Bible were written ONLY to Christians. If Christians couldn't go to hell, why would the writers stress for them not to live in sin and tell them continually that no one who habitually lies, steals, murders, gossips, etc. will ever get into Heaven. Did the authors write all this simply for the sake of wristlock while dipping quill in ink? Of course not. Some plan to use ignorance as their ace, but igorance was never really bliss.

You had better hope that you can never lose your salvation. According to Hebrews 6:6, if you do ever lose your salvation, you can never be saved again. Christ also said that when the Father gives Christians to Him (Jesus), that nothing can pry them out of His hand. That means "nothing can".

The 'once saved always saved' syndrome does trip Christians into sin.
The admonitions are in the Bible for a reason, and we as Christians are to follow them.

As Paul pointed out, ignorance is not an excuse for law.

There are stages/variations of this false doctrine, such as:

1. I'm a good person, so I'll go to heaven.
2. I believe that God exists, so I'll go to heaven.
3. I believe that God exists and I go to church on Christmas, so I'll go to heaven.
4. I believe that God exists and I go to church every Sunday, so I'll go to heaven.

In the end, it is only through belief in Jesus Christ that anyone can hope to enter God's kingdom.

I Couldn't agree more with you.. i think the notion of safe is an embellishement, but thats just my opinion.

I am not a christian but i think that notion that once you accept jesus you go to heaven isn't consistent with the bible.

Why would they call it the day of Judgement.. you gotta earn your keeps.

For the same reason they swallow the false doctrine of salvation, period; they have already swallowed the doctrine of damnation and require a chaser.
