I took in my 13 yr old brother and am his guardian, my 19 yr old sister is living with me, my mom is an alcoholic and drug addict who treats me like I'm her mother and acts like she is a child, In the past few months I have dropped out of school and had to resign from my job, there are no elders or responsible older people in my family because they all passed away or were all on drugs. I have had a horrible childhood that includes sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect, I was taken advantage by this church that I was a member of and all the friends that I thought that I had were really not my friends and all of my family members come to me for advice and prayer because I have a big heart. I don't know what to do, I feel like God has forsaken me, but I still love him, I just don't know what to do. I just turned 25 yrs old by the way and I also found the strength to leave my ex boyfriend alone, but it's still hard.

Alot of atheists are emo, goth or punk teenagers, who have no real reason to be athiest other than to rebel against their parents? Or they are normal teenagers and just want to rebel.
The only athiests I know of in my town fit into this catagory.

What song best describes your life? What type of book or movie would your life be? What animal do you find you prefer? What color fits your mood today? Silly questions perhaps but I think these would tell a lot about a person.

I don't get it, well i know God is very spiritual, and an influence to many millions or billions of people over the years, but how can Kenyans go to heaven or hell if they never had a chance to read the bible and just starve to death?

Ok, so I'm new, but I don't get all the hateful things people are saying in this religion & spirituality section. Is the idea to grow and be tolerant?

It seems like any Christian denomination will ignore the truth of a falling apart congregation just because the power money hungry family opposes the truth that they forced good saints working in the church out.

Read that whole first chapter. Here is all these angels walking around talking to people. Is that why we have like these paranormal people who can see angels. And are they good or bad. Job 1:4 Satan was walking around and it wasn't to good for Job.

I "know" my family and friends, I feel like I "know" many on here from their answers but I am wondering if we ever REALLY "know" anyone.I suspect that one way or the other we all remain strangers to everyone else all of our lives.

And if so then why didn't he just "forgive" satan instead of sending him to hell

As a Christian I am obviously in favor of all the good Christian people here. Don't you see this section kind of dramatic? I am so familiar with these people that I already know a little of their personalities and how they think. Also this section is turning more into a "club".

Do you agree?

Especially those with sayings such as: "You can dress the part and still have a filthy heart" or "Are you looking for a sign? Well, this might be it."

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]

If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]

Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]

Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew 17:20]

Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. [Mark 11:24]
The question, therefore, is simple: are Jesus' statements true or false?
For example, in John 3:16 Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." People take that at face value: if you believe in Jesus, you will have eternal life. So when Jesus says, "Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours," isn't it the same thing? Can't we take that statement at face value as well?

By looking at amputees, we can see that something is wrong. Jesus is not telling the truth. God never answers prayers to spontaneously restore lost limbs, despite Jesus' statements in the Bible. Accepting this piece of factual information, rather than denying it, is the first step in understanding something extremely important about how prayer really works.

Even if you take a liberal rather than literal stance on the Bible, this feels strange, doesn't it? You may not literally believe that "nothing will be impossible for you" nor that "faith can move mountains," but I think we can agree that there is something very odd about the way that our perfect, all-loving God treats amputees. No matter how many people pray. No matter how sincere those people are. No matter how much they believe. No matter how devout and deserving the recipient. Nothing happens when we pray for amputated limbs. God never regenerates lost limbs through prayer, even though Christians believe that God is answering millions of other prayers on earth every day.

Does God answer prayers? If so, then how do we explain this disconnection between God and amputees? What should we do with the piece of empirical data that amputees represent? We need to somehow explain why God would answer millions of prayers on earth, yet completely ignore prayers for amputated limbs.

I was reminded today that it is important to endure to the end. To never give up and to do your best. This is most important with loving and teaching my children. I was reminded that I am their best hope for a "chance" in this life. No matter what they do wrong, I need to continue to love and support them.

I and the father are one.

This fits classically with the Jewish philosophy of gaining perfection is tantamount with unity with the Creator. So that when Jesus was saying “I and the father are one” what he was saying is that he has reached such a level of spiritual perfection he is in tune with the will of the Creator.

The Sabbath was made for man…

In the account of Jesus justifying his men violating the Sabbath by picking grain he quotes a story about King David and his men eating the bread from the tabernacle. At closer inspection one finds that King David justified his actions by saying that he and his men are starving and are at risk of death if they do not eat now.
In the same sense this is what Jesus was saying that one is allowed to violate the Sabbath in order to save a human life. In an “ironic” this is exactly what the Talmud says that the Sabbath was made for men to enjoy not so that they die observing it.

do you think this would please God? and are you sure your going drectly to Heaven.
It takes time...
God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again. Philippian 1:6 NCV
Be patient with God and with yourself. One of life's frustrations is that God's timetable is rarely the same as ours. We are often in a hurry when God isn't. You may feel frustrated with the seemingly slow progress you're making in life. remember that God is never on time to prepare you for your role in eternity.
The Bible is filled with examples of how God uses a long process to develop character, especially in learders. He took eighty years to prepare Moses, including forty in the wilderness. For 14,600 days Moses kept waiting and wondering, "Is it time yet?" But God kept saying, Not yet."
