If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]

If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]

Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]

Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew 17:20]

Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. [Mark 11:24]
The question, therefore, is simple: are Jesus' statements true or false?
For example, in John 3:16 Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." People take that at face value: if you believe in Jesus, you will have eternal life. So when Jesus says, "Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours," isn't it the same thing? Can't we take that statement at face value as well?

By looking at amputees, we can see that something is wrong. Jesus is not telling the truth. God never answers prayers to spontaneously restore lost limbs, despite Jesus' statements in the Bible. Accepting this piece of factual information, rather than denying it, is the first step in understanding something extremely important about how prayer really works.

Even if you take a liberal rather than literal stance on the Bible, this feels strange, doesn't it? You may not literally believe that "nothing will be impossible for you" nor that "faith can move mountains," but I think we can agree that there is something very odd about the way that our perfect, all-loving God treats amputees. No matter how many people pray. No matter how sincere those people are. No matter how much they believe. No matter how devout and deserving the recipient. Nothing happens when we pray for amputated limbs. God never regenerates lost limbs through prayer, even though Christians believe that God is answering millions of other prayers on earth every day.

Does God answer prayers? If so, then how do we explain this disconnection between God and amputees? What should we do with the piece of empirical data that amputees represent? We need to somehow explain why God would answer millions of prayers on earth, yet completely ignore prayers for amputated limbs.

If he wants people to suffer to grow closer, then why does he heal cancer patients, or other sicknesses but not amputations?

God is not a genie in a lamp who will grant your every wish. You are wasting time and energy praying for your limb to grow back. You're not a crab. There are many people who are amputees and they get around just fine. You are being tested, so instead of being mad at God because you lost a limb--Rise above that! Right now the worst amputation you're suffering is amputating yourself from God. You need a spiritual healing more than a physical healing. I'm sure it's difficult to lose a limb or all your limbs, but dammit--you have a brain! You have a heart! And most importantly, you still have a soul! You are alive! Make the most of what you do have. Every day that you can get out of bed and breathe the air is an answered prayer. Okay, so you lost a limb. You didn't lose your life. Is your limb worth more than your whole life and being? Are you that limb?
Another thing, my stepdaughter has lost the use of her arm and her leg. They're still attached to her body, but they are atrophied and she has no movement in them. She cannot use them at all. She may as well be an amputee. Does she feel sorry for herself? No way. In fact, she's a go getter striving for her dreams, goals, and ambitions. Furthermore, she doesn't blame God for her misfortune. She's thankful to be alive and well.
You need to do the same.
Your question makes it obvious that you are being tempted by the devil to lose your faith. Screw the devil.
God has great plans for you. Give in and ask Him what His will for you is. You'll be surprised at what you can do.

He Does Here is one example. A story that has been proven and documented.

Smith Wigglesworth diligently applied The Word of God to his ministry which lasted almost seventy years. Many people came to Christ through his preaching and many were healed and set free from bondage! The following is one such case.

Smith was staying at the home of a curate of the Church of England. The man with whom he was staying had no legs. Smith suddenly said to the man, " Go and buy a new pair of shoes in the morning." A most astounding thing to say to someone with no legs. No doubt thinking Smith was totally insane the curate retired to bed, and then the Lord spoke to him saying " Do as my servant hath said." The curate rose early the next morning and was waiting at the shoe store when the manager arrived to open up. Upon entering the store he was approached by the assistant who asked if he could help him. The curate replied he would like a pair of shoes. The assistant realizing the condition of the man hesitated, before replying that they could not help him, obviously referring to his condition...
The curate seeing his dilemma said: " I would like a pair of black shoes, size eight please." The assistant returned with the shoes and as he put his one stump into the shoe a foot and leg instantly formed. The same thing happened with his other leg. Smith was not surprised and his comment was that with God there is no difference between healing a broken limb and forming a new limb.

God has, does, and will heal all who follow the Biblical Laws of healing. Includeing amputee's !

God does answer prayer, but on His time table, not ours. He never says when He will answer just that He will. In the case of an amputee, we are promised new perfected spiritual bodies in the after life. If not here then there. It doesn't mean the prayer wasn't answered, it just means it wasn't answered while the person lived on earth. Or perhaps it wasn't answered in the way we wanted the prayer answered. There is a big difference between no answer, and an answer that just hasn't come yet.

Because God is dead. If you think about it, no "miracles" have happened since around Biblical times. Why stop making miracles happen there? And why make the world corrupt? Is it only to cut down on the world population? If so, then why does it hurt so much when someone dies? Some questions will never be answered, including this one.

God allows people to go through things so that we can learn from them, and their faith can grow stronger, as well as our own. We learn compassion when we see people that are not whole. We learn to reach out to others. Look at Joni Tada Erickson. She has been so much, but her faith has been growing by leaps, and bounds, and she has helped many others also. God does answer each prayer, but it may not be the way we want it answered. If He gave us everything we ask for we wouldn't need to depend on Him. We would think we were greater than God.

well the first thing is the person has got to have faith, and believe that what he ask for will happen,if your arm was cut off,do you have enough believe to think that it will grow back, most people can't believe for something small and then you think just because someone says i wish my leg was back or what ever its just going to show up,it could if the person believed without a doubt that it was going to grow back ,it would ,but people don't have that strong of faith in God and that were your problem lies with all the amputees, they don't believe

you know that there is a difference between a healing and a miracle? well there is a healing takes time and not our time it's in Gods time that we are healed and a miracle happens right away so when you are asking God for something you need to tell him what you want get right to the point of what you want and then you will get your healing or your miracle which ever God wants you to have..

I assume you are an amputee or maybe know someone who is. My question would be, why is the question directed specifically for amputees. What about others who have illnesses? Why does it seem that God won't heal them?

First off, If we don't know God chances are we can't really understand Him. And it's human nature to question that which we don't understand. As a Christian I've had things happen in my life that I didn't understand so I also had questions for God. But not in an angry or bitter way because I know God is sovereign and knows best. But rather I ask what I can learn from the situation and how I can better minister to others because of it.

But first lets consider the text that you have pulled out of the Bible. Most people pull versus out of context because they don't read the context from the passage which the verses come from.

In each of the versus you cited, If you look at the context you can see that Jesus is talking about the work which needs to be done. The Spiritual work. Which is to come and redeem man and save him from his sin and bring him into a relationship with the heavenly father. Yes we can have anything we ask in his name. What does that mean? By his authority. That is, anything within his will. How do we know his will? From the word of God. We have to understand God to be able to accept this. Suppose I get into an auto accident and my wife gets word and begins praying "Lord please don't let him die". But I already died. Will God raise me up? No! Why? Because God respects history. He created and put things into motion. God has no obligation to change history. God can not lie.

The apostle Paul had reference to a "thorn in the flesh". It was some kind of illness that really bugged him. He prayed and asked God to take it away 3 times. God never healed him. Rather God's response was "My Grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Paul responds saying he would rather glory in his infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon him. You see, because Paul new God personally, he understood that his comfort really wasn't what was most important to God, but what kind of character he had when he was uncomfortable. I'm learning that more and more everyday. God is not in the physical healing business today but the healing of man's heart which is selfish and wicked. One day that amputee (if he knows Christ...has repented of his sin and accepted Christ finished work on the cross for salvation) will walk again. The Bible promises that God's children WILL be resurected with glorified (new) bodies. I Corinthians 15: 51-54
God does answer prayer. Yes, No, or not Yet. It may not be how or when you expect. Which is the beauty of knowing God personally and seeing his hand work in ways you can never imagine.

I was born a Vietnam baby in an Asian Buddhist country. My father abandoned my mother and I when I was a year old. But God allowed my mother to meet another man who brought us to American where I could hear the gospel and get saved. I now am back in that asian country as a missionary. Many of my relatives who live there have never heard of the Love of God and how he sent His son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins and ourselves. Am I mad at my father? No, because I understand that I he needs a personal relationship with God to change his heart. He needs forgiveness. I have received that and understand that God allowed those things to happen so I would come to know him. I have ministered to prisoners in Bangkok prisons who can and have honestly said "I'm so thankful that I came to this prison for I would never have discovered God if I wasn't put here." Missionaries who loved those prisoners showed them God's love. God is in the saving business. Not for our comfort but for our character. Jonnie Ericson can't walk but she has the joy of the Lord and his helping numerous people because of her disability. This can only come with knowing him. I hope this has been some help. Question is...Do you know him? Have you experienced his love through salvation? Or do you question in anger and bitterness because you don't really understand him? I hope you will come to know him as I know him.

Sorry buddy, there is no god. We must heal ourselves if we can!

Better to pray to the tooth fairy, at least he or she leaves things.
