My husband and I are going on a Mission Trip to Mexico around Christmas. This will be our 3rd trip. It will cost us each $895, for a total of $1790.

Do you know of any fund-raising ideas that we can pull off with very little effort/funds of our own? I'd like to get started as soon as possible. We just purchased a home, we will be moving in about 2 weeks, school just started- I teach 2nd Grade, and I'm starting my Master's college courses Oct. 4th. We are busy!

Last year we held a bake sale at Church and made about $300. We plan on doing that again. The rest of the money we just got from begging basically, by sending out a newsletter informing family, friends, and co-workers about our mission, what we were going to be doing, and how they could help.

If you have any ideas that would be so helpful. I get tired of just asking people to donate. I know it is for a good cause, but it seems like pulling teeth, especially around Christmas, so if we could start early, that would help

Why do people feel the need to pick a side in war?
- This to me is silly, since war is a pointless waste of life... people picking sides from afar are like people betting on a football game from home.. War is not a spectator sport!

Why do people think that war is necessary?
- When has war been necessary? If you bring up Hitler I'll tell you that Hitler was the one that started the war (on anyone not aryan).. and starting the war was unnecessary on his part.

Why don't people see that war has historically been caused by difference of religion or philisophical beliefs?
- C'mon folks... it's right there in front of you..

I do see the purpose of religion as far as moral codes, hope, etc. But what I am seeing more and more now is the devisive nature of religion--and it seems to be breeding more hate, than hope. I wonder how many millions of people have died in the name of God--and is that what people really think he would want? I consider myself a spiritual person--and my belief system is more Christian than any other, but I can see truth and beauty in many religions and cultures. I think diversity is beautiful, why does it make others so angry?

If you pray for X and it happens, you say God heard and prayer worked.
If you pray for X and it didn't happen, you say God works in mysterious ways and everything happens for a reason so that's why you didn't get it.

How can you prove that it works? Proof is important because otherwise anyone can come up with anything at anytime and demand you believe it because they said it.

I don't want to know your religion, or lack of religion. I just want to know whether you believe you serve Love or Fear.

Do you encourage Love in others, or do you encourage Fear?

I live in Greenville, Tx and goto Dallas fairly often. The Problem is I don't know where any good shops are to get supplies for ritual use. I am a solitary practicioner and don't know anyone in this area that practices. Any help would be greatly appreiciated as every time I track down a shop in DFW it's closed for the day or shut down alltogether.

People blame all these wars at God, but can't you see that the major cause of these conflicts is lack of tolerance? Even this forum is a great example of lack of tolerance, if we didn't had the anonymity that the Internet offers and we would be telling those kind of atrocities to our faces then people would be beating the crap of each other.

You can get rid of all the religions of the world, but wars are going to continue. People have lack of tolerance not only for religion, but also for politics, race, difference in cultures, power, monetary aspects.

Humans are too imperfect to develop true peace in themselves and accept each other. In a World were people are giving their backs at God, people are being more intolerant to each othe. Isn't this the cause of not having God in their hearts?

to forget the tenets of our chosen religions in an anonymous setting and become so mean spirited and negative?

For example: Many educated atheists lose their tempers here and start spewing venom instead of facts. Many christians here forget what christ taught and belittle and name-call others. I, myself have gotten caught up in the negativity that plagues this place and hurt someone. I publicly apologized to her and now I would call her friend. However, it doesn't change the hurtful words I said. (for you M.W. my favorite turkey sandwich....LOL)

Anyways, why do we let ourselves become the worst version of ourselves here? does anyone act like this in real life?

Come now, most of you redneck, confederate flag wielding, bible holdin, useless appalachians (and michigan) can be pretty damn racist if I may point out. And because you're retarded you also believe in Jesus and all that. So, what happens if he actually does come back and it turns out that he's black? Would you still accept him and go with him to heaven (could be a bit ghetto) or just commit suicide and have done with it? Personally, I don't think you're smart enough to wrap your mind around this concept.

My boyfriend and I are madly in love with one another and we care for each other deeply. We live with each other and plan on getting married. Is there anyone who thinks we will go to hell because of our actions? Keep in mind I would like a pluralistic perspective.

I am frightened by the current events concerning Islam and the rising tensions between the Muslims and non-Muslims. I would really like somebody who is a Muslim to help my understand more about your religion, so I do not become prejudiced by my fears. If anyone would be prepared to answer my questions completely honestly, and not get ultra offended by everything I ask, I would be very grateful if you would send me an email or answer, so I can email you.
Thank you!!

Why do so many right wing evangelical protestants support the war with Iraq? How many more American soldiers will have to die to make the religous right happy?

It amazes me that a lot of the religous right support this war, even though the Iraqi gov't is anti-semitic!

I have been insulted for my buddhist beliefs many times, even after trying to convince people it was mean and wrong. However, I noticed that christians did it far more than atheists. How can christians claim that atheists are the instigators when a third party has been criticized and mocked far more by christians than by atheists?

Post Note: I am not saying christians are better or worse than atheists.

Muslims and their Christian supporters fail to realise that they are given a King's Version of Quran that is like the King James Version of the Bible, and with the same trickery.

If men think they are intelligent and pious, why dont they admit that the insertion of Jesus and Jews and Christians in their reading of the Quran is blasphemous and intentionally malicious?

For Muslims to falsely insert fictitious characters into the Quran it makes them into Infidels, according to the Words of the Quran, for he who judges by other than what Allah has revealed is an infidel, and the Bible is not revelation from Allah.

Allah says in Quran that there was a trick to the crucifixion and all that come with the trick are extensions of the trick, and this makes the Bible and Jesus and Christianity all extensions of the Hoax Of The Two Crucified Thieves Jesus.

Will Muslim and Christian scholars ever admit their balsphemy and repent and amend?

One Honest English Translation Please?

LET ME CLARIFY.

I WANT to follow Pascal's Wager. I KNOW that it would be a better idea to just force myself to believe, be religious, and faithful to God and if I'm wrong nothing happens, but if I'm right I get into Heaven.

But I just have trouble FAKE believing. I just CANNOT force myself to believe. I just think it is so fake and hypocritical and everything like that. God defies my common sense and rationality. So it's my loss, fine, I go to Hell supposedly.

BUT MY QUESTION IS, obviously God created me this way. God made me so skeptical that I cannot possibly believe in things just because other people do it or some old book says so. If He really is omnipotent, He KNEW I would turn out this way.

So have I ALWAYS since birth been destined for Hell? Is there anything I can do? Will He forgive me and send me to Heaven because HE MADE ME THIS WAY? To the theists: Should I have just been aborted instead of wasting everyone's time (lol)?

Thanks for your responses!!!

Basically, I am a wanna-be Christian. I am 99.9% atheist because I basically don't believe in God. But like I said, I'm a wannabe Christian...do you think CCC will help me? Or turn me away from God. The Bible actually turned me away from God, because I just found some many contradictions and things I could not believe.

I'm kind of in a place when I just really need a God to believe in...

Have you actually ever read the bible? I'm just curious as to how any self respecting woman could consider herself a christian. Are you aware of what christianity and your "god" truely think of you? To put it simply, you're property and you should shut the hell up, obey and surrender and submit to the will of men. And there's plenty of qoutes and versus in the bible that prove that's the case. So if you actually believe the bible is the word of "god" then you're excepting the fact that you're at the bottom of the christian hierarchy and your ownly real purpose in life is to serve men and bare their children.

So to all self respecting woman who call themselves christians, I ask again, have you actaully read the bible?
