My husband and I are going on a Mission Trip to Mexico around Christmas. This will be our 3rd trip. It will cost us each $895, for a total of $1790.
Do you know of any fund-raising ideas that we can pull off with very little effort/funds of our own? I'd like to get started as soon as possible. We just purchased a home, we will be moving in about 2 weeks, school just started- I teach 2nd Grade, and I'm starting my Master's college courses Oct. 4th. We are busy!
Last year we held a bake sale at Church and made about $300. We plan on doing that again. The rest of the money we just got from begging basically, by sending out a newsletter informing family, friends, and co-workers about our mission, what we were going to be doing, and how they could help.
If you have any ideas that would be so helpful. I get tired of just asking people to donate. I know it is for a good cause, but it seems like pulling teeth, especially around Christmas, so if we could start early, that would help

Ooh. Congrats! May the Lord bless you on your trip and keep you safe and sane! Hehe. Well, when a bunch of youth members and a couple adults and I went on a missions trip to Florida, we did a bake sale as well; we also held a rummage sale, where people that weren't even going on the trip donated things to, since it was a good cause. We also did car washes every Saturday, and didn't charge people, just had a donation can, and while some of us cleaned their car, others told them what we were raising money for. Then the rest of it was donated by kind and loving members of our Church.
Good luck!

If you feel like your mission request is begging then are you doing it for the right reasons? And why isn't your church doing the fund raising for you? These are the first two questions that come to mind. They could have singings with a $1 entrance or donations for the mission field - the church could take up love offerings on Wed. nights - an organization in town might be willing to choose your trip as an advertisement promotion - we have a local body shop that is always sponsoring a youth group or a fellowship as they go on mission trips and it's part of their ads that they are spreading the gospel one repair at a time and one "mission" at a time. Use community service ads in papers or in civic organizations that will allow it. More than anything, trust that if God wants you there, he will get you there.

Try G2Bay. This is a social networking site where people help each other make and save money. People post their photos, blogs, news, product and service reviews and talk about the stocks they own. Every user gets a Million Dollar Page where advertisers pay to find the right customers. The more hits you get on your page, the more money advertisers will give you. You can specify why you need the money and people can either donate it or buy ads on your Million Dollar page.

We had a enchilada sale, we pre-sold tickets. We made about $1900.00. It was hard work but easy money. Our organization held the fundraiser. We had 5 people cooking, prepping and getting orders ready my names. People came by and pick them at their convenience. If you do this fundraiser-try to get letters sent about your cause-get ingredients donated! You can use your Church's 501 non-profit status if they have one. E-mail me if you want more details. Our second enchilada sale is in Sept and we already have 43 tickets @ $8.00 each sold.

ask for your pastors support and see if they will take in a special donation at church.
Go around to different bussinesses- are there any bussiness owners in your church? ask them to sponsor you.
do a benefit garage sale, ask friends, neighbors and church members to donate their stuff to a benefit garage sale - I have done this twice- I not only got an incredible amount of donations from the neighborhood and businesses- we did very well in raising money for hte cause we were supporting

I think that you may be the one who needs to be recieving the "word of God". You are suppose to be a Christian and everyone of your answers to me have been filled with hate, judgement, and insults. Not very Christian like in my opinion. And by the way, I did ask a question before. And you are a teacher?? Thank goodness you arn't my kids teacher.

I am sorry--but I never think going to try to get people to join your church is a good idea.
