If your looking to convert I'm sure the CCC would love to help you out.
But why do you want to believe in god if you don't believe in god? You will only not see the contradictions if you just close your mind and refuse to look.
Maybe you should try a liberal Christian church of the type where they would accept you as an agnostic? I think if you want to be true to yourself the evangelical groups like CCC are not for you.
(BTW, unlike CHAD I do not consider it weak minded to call oneself an agnostic. I'm a 'strong atheist' cause I'm convinced the Christian god cannot exist. But for someone not to have come fully to that conclusion is not weakness, only refusing to admit that conclusion when you are convinced of it is weakness.)

Why would you want to be a Christian if you don't believe in the bible? Their are other ways to seek out God...other than Christianity...it's called spirituality...it's a search that sometimes takes a lifetime...but the search itself is what makes it enlightening. You seem like an intelligent person...and you are right...the bible is full of contradictions...doesn't mean that there isn't good lessons to be learned from it...but the bottom line is that it is an interpretation of what was believed to be God's word by man...it's full of political inclinations from it's time period...and it's original meaning has probably been lost in translation over the course of the last few thousand years.
Try out a Unitarian church...or another non-denominational religion first...to get perspective...if you feel like being a Christian is the only way...then try out a Methodist church (they seem to be the least fanatical of the Christian religion)....Good luck to you...and I hope you find what your looking for...you've made the right step simply by starting the search.

Well, I hate to say it, but if reading the fundamental Christian text turned you away from God, it sounds like Christianity isn't for you. That doesn't, however, mean that you can't believe in God. It just means that you don't believe in God the same way Christians believe in God. I think it's probably time for you to go on your own spiritual journey. Read up on other religions, check out some non-Christian religious services, or maybe try a Unitarian church. I've been where you are right now and I got through it just fine...without Campus Crusade. And you are right that the Bible has a lot of contradictions and crazy, or even mean-spirited, sounding stuff in it. But I think the reason for this is that man just wasn't cut out to understand God in his or her entirety. Therefore, no religion gets it all right. And there will always be some people who manipulate religion to serve their own agenda. To try to find out what God is really like, just listen to the voice of God inside you and all around you. Let it be your guide and you won't go wrong. Good luck in your journeys!

What Will said. I'm personally an atheist, but you can consider the possibility that there is a God, and He didn't write the Bible.

Have you considered Islam?
Islam beleives in One Creator of all mankind. Muslims beleive in Jesus Christ too as one of the greatest Prophet's of God. Try and look into what Islam says about him. Maybe your heart will be at rest.
I was driven to atheism too until I rediscovered Islam.

CCC should help you. Maybe as the lead person for some help or just see if they'll set aside a time to talk to you. If you feel uncomfortable with that, ask if they know of any good pastors that would be willing to talk with you.
I'll pray for you.

Yes. CCC is a great place to start. God is real, though the devil tries to blind us to this fact. Our own minds would rather believe in no God (and therefore, no strict standards and no hell) than to believe we must die to ourselves. That's where your struggle is coming from.
I'll get a lot of thumbs-down for this one, but it's worth it. I'll say a prayer for you. (I don't promise that a lot because I don't remember well.) Your eternal soul is priceless and valuable, and you are to be commended for recognizing its needs.

Christ is probably not what you need. You just sound weak minded. To call yourself an atheist is probably incorrect. Agnostic would be more like it.
