Can anybody help me learn about Islam?

Question

I am frightened by the current events concerning Islam and the rising tensions between the Muslims and non-Muslims. I would really like somebody who is a Muslim to help my understand more about your religion, so I do not become prejudiced by my fears. If anyone would be prepared to answer my questions completely honestly, and not get ultra offended by everything I ask, I would be very grateful if you would send me an email or answer, so I can email you.

I am not looking to convert to Islam, Poki Poki, and sorry if I offended you. I am just confused, and I am worried I will become religionist if I don't make an effort to learn about Islam, and understand it.

It is great that you want to learn about Islam..there are many ways..but here you will get more negative responses..you can contact a mosque close to you and ask questions there..I'm not suggesting converting to Muslim..no The Imam can answer questions for you..if i can help in any way I will be more than happy..feel free to contact me through here if you like

islam is not something you want to get involved with.

however, i will say this.. if you live in america, please don't worry about islam. as a gay person, i can't even sleep at night because in the middle east, and according to what islam says, gays should be stoned and killed.

however, the muslims here in america are far more secular.. most muslims in the US are wealthy [they moved to america to get out of communism or to not be forced to do everything their religion says. the poor can't more here because they don't have the money. but the rich can.] anyways the muslims here in the US are more secular and accepting of ppl. they are truly great ppl... some of them is.

europe is what we have to worry about. did you know that in europe they bust terrorists 20 times more then in america? and islam is growing at about a million ppl each year in europe.. it's barely growing in america!!

islam is pretty bad tho in terms of what the qu'ran says. you can't drink. you can't eat pork. the qu'ran says to beat your wife if she does somethng wrong.

Quran 4:34: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

mohammed raped ppl... he married a 9 year old girl once. he killed a whole city of jews, and so forth.

half of the muslims do this ritual where they use knives and cut their heads. it's quite sickening.

other muslims don't want the doctor to circumsise the sons.. so instead, after about a week they literally get a razor blade and cut it off. it's very very sickening and sad.

the qu'ran is quite harsh.. every year over 6 million muslims in africa convert to christianity because islam was so bad. 75% of christians who convert to islam come back to christianity!! the only reason islam is growing is because muslims have like 6 kids. it's quite sad.

anyways, but i don't think all the ppl are so bad. i think it just has to do with culture. plus like look at who the terrorists are.. they're not the rich nice muslims.. or most aren't. they are the poor muslims who can't get jobs and such. the muslims here in the US, even if they are poor, they canget a job. :)

try not to hate muslims. i have this HUGE hate for muslims and it chews me up all the time. the only reason i hate them too is because they hate gays so much and they aren't secular.

I'm muslim and i'm proud that i'm muslim... and we respect all relegions and prophets (thats ion our book)...
About we try to convert every ppl into islam is wrong ... and what u heard from Ben Laden and these ppl isnt the real islam..i'm muslim and i hope to kill ben laden and these ppl who insult us in front of other relegion... anyways there is a site called www.sultan.org u can find many books about islam...and if u need to chat about islam u can e-mail me or use the yahoo msn...

I understand how you can be scared and appreciate your willingness to learn. You can call 1 877 why islam 9am to 9pm or go to www.islamicfinder.com to find a mosque in ur area and call and ask to speak to someone there, they will apprecciate it too.

Take your time. It wasn't written in a day, so don't think it needs to be read in one sitting. But there is the place to start. The rest won't make any sense until you do.
