All Christians are supposed to be apostles of Christ in various forms. The priests and pulpit are supposedly directly elected from the first apostles. Saints would be Christians that lived there life exceptionally and can be called on to appeal to god in the after life. Mother Theressa will probably be the next saint. You probably mean prophets. There is nothing specifically against prophets but Christians believe with the next coming of the prophets specifically Christ the end of the world begins. So they do not see to many prophets.

What a great question! Of course I believe there are apostles in these days. Apostles are people that Christ sent out to spread His word in the early days of the church. I believe that modern day missionaries could warrant that title as well.

Yes, there are Apostles, unfortunately, not being as close to Christ as the originals, the thought is way too scary for most people... believers AND non-believers.

An "Apostle" is someone who is sent out as a representative like an ambassador. In that sense every Christian is called to be an "Apostle" who represents Christ here on earth.
The problem with modern day "Apostles", at least those who claim that title for themselves is that it usually indicates a wrong heart and a wrong understanding. What I mean is that the people whom I have heard of that call themselves "Apostles" are like wolves in sheep's clothing. They are not humble servants of God like the Apostle Paul who said that he was the worst of sinners and the least of all Apostles. Instead these people seem to be on a power trip as they seek to draw men to themselves instead of pointing the way to Christ like a true Apostle would do. They are like Simon the sorcerer in the book of Acts who wanted to buy the power of giving people the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, 19 saying, "Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." 20 But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! 21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.
I was talking with a man Saturday night named Zac Poonen. He has planted over 40 churches in his native country of India. He was visiting the church I attend and preaching that night because my Pastor was out of town. He doesn't call himself an Apostle even though he certainly meets the requirements because he is a humble servant of God who isn't interested in some official title that can be used to impress people. There's a link to his site from my site.
