"Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy." It seems this commandment gets blown off quite a bit and people are kind of like "ehh, no big deal." It was a big enough deal to be put on a list of only 10 things right?

Whats the story about God. Whats his begining. just to let you know, I believe in God. I was just wondering whats beyond. Like what did he do before he created everything. What was he.

Is it wrong to question this?

It must be true since it's in the Bible. Admittedly, it's in crayon, and in my handwriting, but it's still technically in the Bible.

The Roman Catholic church said found Galileo guilty of blasphemy for saying the earth revolves around the sun, and not other way around. They have since recanted. Were they right or wrong to recant?

Exodus Chapter 21, verse 20:

If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

Not only does God condone slavery, but he is also completely comfortable with the concept of beating your slaves, as long as you don't kill them.

Numbers 31:14 - 18

Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle

15 "Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them. 16 "They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the LORD in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the LORD's people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

God and moses allow rape?

I may not be up on my biblical studies, but I've got a distinct recollection of Jesus saying something along those lines (Matthew 5:38-42), (Luke 6:28-31).
So you can understand my confusion, as to why I keep on coming across obviously, strongly religious people (and yes, I know it's not all of you), totally cursing out atheists, agnostics, and others... saying: You’re going to burn in hell, you won't need a coat where you’re going, FUC*!!!! You, ect.... and all manner of other hurtful comments.
And I know that people try to stir you up (I've done it myself a number of times actually). But I ask you: If you're so sure in your beliefs, why does this stuff even bother you? I mean, I know if I was sure that a god existed I wouldn't even bother responding to people trying to bait me.

Anyways let me know what you think

-Cheers

Why do Muslims react so violently to criticism of Islam? For examplehen the Mohammed cartoons were printed, there were death threats and riots all over the place.

There are so many evils happening in this world that makes me wonder where this world is going. As a blessed American, we tend to live in bubble and not pay attention to what is really going on around the world.
There are so many evils going on in this world such as war, genocide, human trafficking, sex trafficking, slave labor, child labor, discrimination, crimes, violence, pornography, etc...
Maybe it is just me but I feel like the world is getting worse by day, not better. I used to believe that every human being has a conscience. Not anymore after I have seen what kinds of atrocities humankind has committed throughout the history, especially WWII.
I would like to hear u guys' insights. How do you view the world progressing into? What can we do to minimize the evils happening in this world?

Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate
supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the
earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its
trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right
hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the
eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left
hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a
symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary
in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be
continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must
discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all
ears to our petition. The snake that runs round his waist represents energy
in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a
mouse.

religious environment? I think ALL religious people are conformists who could not question what their surroundings did to them. By that i mean their upbringings that fed them all those beliefs.
