The Roman Catholic church said found Galileo guilty of blasphemy for saying the earth revolves around the sun, and not other way around. They have since recanted. Were they right or wrong to recant?

Evolution hasn't come that far yet!

No one has yet proved anything. It's a theory, like the sun as the center of the solar system, except Galellio gave proof of it.

Now, what if EVOLUTION gets proved!

Where does religion stand!

Let's face if.

IF, big if, SCIENCE can defintiavely prove it like Gallelo did, religion has a serious problem!

No...Galileo was a Christian who was persecuted for standing up for the truth, which was in opposition to the tradition of the Catholic Church.

By that time, the Church was more interested in covering up the Bible and other truths than they were in the care of the flock of believers. They didn't want to be "found out."

Does the Bible say that we don't revolve around the sun??

It does however say that we were 'created' and didn't evolve from a slush puddle of slime.

Did you know that the bible stated that the earth was round over 300 years before Aristotle even thought that the world could be round?

The Bible also said the world hangs from nothing, which we know today to be true.

All you non-christian who say something against us christians should go to hell.

The bible and the church say the EARTH IS ROUND!!!

And not all christians disbelieve Galileo was wrong.

I am a full christian/catholic as well as a scientist. I study about God but no matter what i find it always proves God exists. So why would i hate myself because i am a scientist and a christian/catholic at the same time? Ask normal questions not ones that assume we think a way you think we think

Galileo (Of whom was a Christian) was right, the Catholic church was wrong. And your point" Pagans were still worshipping the sun and moon gods and believed they would sail off the edge of the earth.

Christianity has always been against science. When Galileo proved to the vatican that a vacuum did exist he was ordered to forget his dicovery and to destroy all his research. Today they attack evolution, even though the Pope acknowledged it as fact. We would so much more advance if weren't for the Xian cult.

evolution is 'proved.' and catholics are christians. the FIRST CHRISTIANS, for christsakes!!!!

hello!! evolution is a theory, not a hypothesis. a hypothesis is a guess. a theory is the best explanation for a large body of facts.

electricity is a theory. gravity is a theory. have they been proved? well then so has evolution. in fact, it is the most strongly supported by fact of all scientific theories.

jeepers, your question helps reveal how really scientifically illiterate some people are. if this trend continues, who will do heart transplants?

The Catholic Church has been wrong often in the scientific arena, as they are now when the support evolution. Galileo's theory could be proven scientifically, tested, retested, observed, verified. Evolution cannot now, nor ever be proven using scientific methods. It cannot be tested, retested, falsified or observed. It is a philosophy, a belief systems, a world view. One that is counter to the Christian belief and world view.

The Church also stated that the Earth was flat. I'm still waiting to find out if the Christians still believe THAT.

And, don't forget that the Church believes that scientists are witches, which means that Christians shouldn't use penicillin, or even aspirin.
