Question

Why do Muslims react so violently to criticism of Islam? For examplehen the Mohammed cartoons were printed, there were death threats and riots all over the place.

Well, when your religion doesn't have much going for you, and its failing anyway...I guess that's the best way to get attention....through a fit.

This question has been asked and answered so many times.
In your question, you did not give the entire picture. The Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, was portrayed in the cartoon was wearing a turban with a bomb having an evil grin.

If it were a cartoon portraying him having a conversation with God or something I don't think there would have been such a reaction.
You have to understand that even before 9/11 Muslims have been under attack and constantly feel that they have to defend themselves against society. This is why the reaction was an angry one.

Another reason is because most Muslims take their religion seriously. We love our Prophet and respect him as we do Allah (God in Arabic...not the moon god as some people have posted!)
It is disrespectful to portray the prophet in that manner out of respect. Just like in Christianity and Judaism there are limitations. Going beyond those limitations show disrespect to the faith for those who take it seriously. For example...the Italian people are presently trying to sue Madonna for dangling on a cross imitating Jesus on the crucifix while she was singing Like a Virgin in her underwear. They were demonstrating and angry as well. WHY HASN'T ANYONE CRITICIZED THEM???


If you people would rather look into the religion and ask questions about what Islam is all about really (a beautiful and peaceful religion) they would understand us better. It doesn't not say anywhere in the Quran to kill or hurt people.. on the contrary.
Therefore those people who do kill and hurt people , according to the true religion of Islam are not Muslim actually, but angry people using religion to serve as a blanket for their wrong doing (history does repeat itself).

First when it is against the religion to show his face, and when they dont just show the cartoon, making fun of him as well. It crosses the line. At least they didnt riot in the US. They did it with in their boundaries. By the way the religion has been growing at a rapid pace, not failing.

Uhm It's really just perspective really. For example, how would you react if you were a devout Christian and Islamic people drew pictures of Jesus with Machine guns and killing people. Anyway, one princple of Islam is not to draw holy people like Mohammed.
Besides, not all Islamic people are Radicals. For example, many of my friends are Islamic, and they are peaceful and hate killing.

Not all Muslims are violent, but those that are are radical in their beliefs and think all who are not Muslims should be exterminated. That is why the Muslim fundamentalists are a dangerous lot.
