Is it possible that some Christians just accept and believe what others tell them, whereas others actually search the Bible for answers, and thus can truly say that they trust what they believe and can give evidence of it? Is it possible that some religions really do cause more problems than they help, but others do really help the ones that adhere to them? Do you think that some people look negatively on a form of religion (let's say Christianity) because of how many of those who profess to be Christians do not live up to what they claim to be? Does that mean that those who do strive to set an example should be lumped in with all of the rest?

In response to digilook's question, and a interesting experience I had today. I just started a job at a law firm after graduating college, and a fellow alumni from my college works here. He was in a fraternity (typical frat guy) and I was in a sorority (non-typical sorority girl, it was a very small college). He starts telling me how much I remind him of his sister, and all this about how my sunny personality is so great, and all that. It's wierd because we never hung out in college, but now I'd consider him my friend. Have any of you had a similar experience?

I answered a question about love being real or an illusion that came from the bible. Since the asker felt that you couldn’t prove love exists.
My answer was that Love is real. It is real chemical and physical attraction that bonds us.
That Fidelity and monogamy were illusions that came from the Bible.
She gave me best answer to put me up as the poster child for hopeless people who have lost their way.
I quote “People like her are the one's I'm talking about. The bible helps people who are hopeless. People who have lost their way. Once religion is destroyed, suicide rates will increase along with insanity. Tell me I'm wrong, and I'll continue to be right”

So as I set my path leaving suicide and insanity in my wake, I wonder:

Does love exist?
Are fidelity and monogamy illusions?
Should I tell her she’s wrong or should she continue to be right?

God is your mother's spouse?
What the?
Rationally...

So all women christians have to commit adultery?

If the 'father' has a son, yes you say that his son is Jesus....
Rationally...

Jesus is your brother.

If all christians is the children of the 'father' so the father 'have it' too much with your mother! Even with different mother!!

SO, rationally....
Christianity is irrational.

please dont call me atheist because im not an atheist (atheist is more irrational). So guess... what is my religion...?

I have been exploring how different religions reconile natural violence like volcanic eruptions and animals killing and eating other animals. The quote below comes from a Christian POV. What can you add to explain why god created such massive violence on this planet and in the universe? Thanks.

"As far as natural violence, like volcanic eruptions, lions etc., we can look to the Lord's curse of the Earth in Genesis 3:17 "Cursed is the Earth because of you."

I am agnostic and was raised Catholic. I no longer hold those beliefs or practice the religion. Nowadays I hear a lot of rumors about Catholicism from people who simply do not understand the religion at all. They seem to believe what they see in movies and make judgements based on the media and rumors instead of doing research and learning the facts for themselves.

In the additional details you will find some things I want to clear up about the Catholic religion. Is there anything else anyone would like to add?

OR perhaps their are common misconceptions you would like to clear up about your specific religion or another religion about which you are informed.

I would like to hear facts here, no rumors and no prejudice about other religions. Only truths about common misconceptions.
For example: Many people think that Wiccans are evil or devil worshipers and this is NOT true.

Wasn't it noted in the Bible in Genesis that there is male/female just like all of creation.
Don't we refer to the changes of nature as 'Mother Nature'? And the male aspect of God is more constant and unchangeable?

God believers comment
"You can't see air but it's there"

Atheist reply
"You can see air molecules through an electron microscope"

God believer comment
"the flowers, grass, and trees is proof that god exist"

Atheists reply
"if it's that easy, I can say the super flying horse made the flowers, grass and trees. Your so called "proof" is an assumption which is not supported by anything"

God believers comment,
"well, I have faith and this conversation isn't going anywhere. I dont want to talk about it anymore."

Atheist reply,
"Good idea, quit before you lose"

Do we have a manmade spiritual caste system also, and do some people intentionally hide spiritual knowledge?
I'm sure some knowledge needs a certain knowledge base before comprehension, but I always figured that the subtle hints were like bait.
Do "they" want us to know?
Which mystic paths have a dead-end and when you get there, it's too late? Do they all connect in the same circle? They is a broad term though?
Even if you aren't into spirituality, it's no secret that these groups are still involved in decision making that affects you and your life?
Anyways, the brave new world reference, what do you think? Is it like this, maybe not the 'pneumatic" aspect LOL, but will it soon be that way also? And are you cool with this?

Once again and hopefully, the last time I'm gonna bring this up.
I stopped attending my church for almost a month now. And since only 3-4 persons would follow up on me at least once a week, and the rest do not care at all, my heart has grown even the hardest, the last string of attachment to them has snapped.
Question: Do I go back to "that same house of God"? Do I look for another? Or do I join the world now?
I've really slided.. down so deep.

Imagine for a minute that you are a railroad engineer. Every day you have to wait a switch point and switch the tracks so the train doesn't crash. One day your only child comes to work with you, and plays near the gears that switch the tracks. All of a sudden your child falls into the gears. Just as you rush to save your child, you hear the whistle of the approaching train loaded with lots of people. You do not have time to save your child and switch the tracks. If you switch the tracks now your child will be killed. If you don't switch the tracks now all the people on the train will be killed.
What do you do?

How do we know the Greeks or the Romans or the Native American Gods weren't the correct ones to worship? How do we know there is only one God? Where is the proof?

.
.
First of all the soul is never born, nor does it die. The soul is that spark of divinity which is in each and everyone of us. That divinity (God), always existed and since we ARE the soul, then we too, always did exist and, will never cease to exist.
And just so that you know, you are not the body that have a soul, but rather, you are that soul that has a body.
This body is just the vehicle we use to get us through life.
The body dies, but the soul moves on.

Witchcraft has a demoralizing effect, and this is clearly visible in our strange, present society. Recent studies have shown that thirty-six percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 have at least one tattoo. Witches have set the trend for this, but Leviticus 19:28 forbids tattoos. It is also true that many witches make their money as prostitutes. Sexual sins are plaguing our nation as never before, because it is a spiritual problem. During the time of the witches’ sabat of Midsummer, or the third week of June, Los Angeles, California, hosted an erotica convention, which drew 50,000 participants who attended a series of sex seminars where they were taught techniques in perversion, and many were prepared to audition for forthcoming porno movies." Perhaps Christianity has fallen out of disfavor in your church for reasons you aren't cognizant of??
