Simply put, the Christian POV is base4d on an ancient nomadic tradition that decided that humanity was somehow responsable for plate tectonics, atmospheric pressure, and the cycle of life and death. A very, very egocentric perspective, in my view.
As children sometimes believe that what happenins in the world might be because of something they did or did not do, so believed these early tribes about the world that they could not control. The world was a hostile place: Surely SOMEONE had to be responsable for it being that way. So they prayed to the sky and begged forgiveness in the hope that life would get a little easier for them.
It didn't. And modern Christians are stuck with the legacy.

That is EXACTLY right. Many will get on here to refute it as the others above me did. Biggest arguement is, why did He create it if He knew things would go wrong, and so on. Well, understand that our brains are quite small when you think about it. We don't understand simple things on this earth, though some scientists want us to believe that we do. If God revealed everything to us:
1.) There would not be enough paper, tapes, etc on the entire earth to write it all down.
2.) We wouldn't be able to comprehend it all anyway.
When you take an all-knowing God such as the One True God, grant him the honor of being more learned than you!!

For a more pagan point of view, life and death is all a part of nature. If life was easy we would never learn anything. We have darkness to rest and light to give us life. There is no evil, but we do have to deal with hardship to better appreciate our blessings. Everything has a time and purpose. Death happens in its own time and for reasons we can not always see. The earth is not cursed but filled with blessings and reminders to be thankful for the good in our life. We have lessons to learn and if we had not obstacles then we would not learn how to get around them and improve ourselves

Well, It didn't say God cursed the earth - God said cursed is the earth... The earth caused a curse on itself when the ones put in dominion over it (Adam and Eve) sinned and accepted the lies of the devil.
In Christ's life of perfect obedience to God's will, His suffering, death, and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin, so that those who by faith accept this atonement may have eternal life, and the whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of God's law and the graciousness of His character; for it both condemns our sin and provides for our forgiveness. The death of Christ is substitutionary and expiatory, reconciling and transforming. The resurrection of Christ proclaims God's triumph over the forces of evil, and for those who accept the atonement assures their final victory over sin and death. It declares the Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth will bow. (John 3:16; Isa. 53; 1 Peter 2:21, 22; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4, 20-22; 2 Cor. 5:14, 15, 19-21; Rom. 1:4; 3:25; 4:25; 8:3, 4; 1 John 2:2; 4:10; Col. 2:15; Phil. 2:6-11.)

I can accept that person's POV.
We know that the eventual fate of everything that lives is death. Why we stress so much about the different ways things/people die, is a bit of a mystery to me. The ultimate curse is death, itself. Death is the enemy of life.
It thrills me to know that Jesus has conquered death...and because of Him, I do not have to be afraid of death...whether by volcanoes or lions and such, or disease, or war, or just plain old age...
But the ultimat thrill is to know that Death and Hell are scheduled to be destroyed!!

God gave us freewill so not all violence can be attributed to Him. Others who question His existence are too quick to point all frailties in life on Him. Calamities are explained by science. All things in this world change. You cant expect volcanoes to be dormant for centuries.

An omnipotent god would have seen what his creations would do, and not have made ones that would do something that needed to be cursed. Not an excuse.

I dont believe in that quote.
Supposedly "god is soverign", and thus "he is in control of everything, even that which does not please him".
