This is a serious question and not an attack on anyone. I fully understand the Dictionary definition of faith, so please don't bother giving it. The problem is, whenever someone says to me that I know so and so, or I believe such and such, my response is, why? Usually, the answer I get is because, and then there is some proof provided. When it comes to religion the answer is either I read it in the Bible, or I just have faith. I have studied the Bible, I have read books pro and con, I have spoken with religious authorities and have found no proof to substantiate the things claimed in the Bible.

So, all that remains is faith. How does one get this faith? Why would I take anyone’s believe at face value without asking for proof? Other than your religious writings, what evidence do you have to substantiate your faith? Please share your insight.

" When He, The Spirit of Truth, is come (from the Father), he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that SHALL HE SPEAK; and he will show you the things to come".

So according to Jesus if you want to hear God's voice you MUST RECEIVE the Holy Spirit.
If you have NOT the Spirit of God then you CANNOT what He is saying.

Is it any wonder unbelievers are so confused?

An agnostic theist is one who disavows knowledge of God's existence but chooses to believe in God in spite of this. (Wikipedia)

Its been my experience that we are disliked by both theists and atheists as each thinks we are too close to the opposing idea... just trying to see if this was the idea of the majority.

That's because I KNOW He exists.

We don't have to "believe" in something that we KNOW is true.

That's why I don't "believe" in God. I know He's real ... !

I know He's real, because He's been there for me in situations that, logically speaking, I had no business getting out of. Situations that could have utterly ruined my life, in more ways than one.

I'm telling you, in these situations there was NO way I could have gotten out of them without Him.

There's no other explanation for why I got out of these situations. No other explanation at all, except that God was there.

And, every time I've prayed to Him in true need -- and every time I've asked Jesus' mother Mary to pray for me to Him -- I have NEVER been let down.

Not once.

I KNOW God is real. I know it for a fact.

What I mean is, Mankind evolves and God has put people within the world to teach the truth for the mentality of that time. Could it be then that Jesus was simply another important messenger that revealed the truth for the people of that time? There hasn't been anything revolutionary about his teachings, people had been PHYSICALLY sacrificing to God for a long time, Jesus was basically telling them that from now on the physical act of atonement had passed because Mankind had evolved enough to understand the purpose of sacrifice, to be aware of their sin and to show repentance for it. Also, when Jesus says "there is no way to the Father except through me" couldn't that be interpreted "there is no way to the Father except through the example of living that I have shown you", even through his death? I realize we need to remember Jesus for accepting God's purpose for his life and living according to God's will, his example showed us how primary that is, but should we be praying to him?

Since I became friends with Muslims, I was at awe with their kindness, family unity and obedience. I hear in the news about how bad they are and what some of them do. But do U ever hear how good Muslim ppl are. From my experience, I think ppl are being to judgemental. Look at some of the bad christians that hurt our country? We're not all perfect. Dont let the bad muslims ruin ur view on the good Muslims. Just like christian, we have some bad ones out there.

Gen 32:
24) And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25) And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was strained, as he wrestled with him.
26) And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27) And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28) And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29) And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30) And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, [said he], I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Hitting the hollow point of the thigh is a four point violation in wrestling! That's bull ****, why did God fight dirty?

Someone in a previous post offered the Pledge of Allegiance as proof that America was founded as a Christian nation. You people do realize that the words "Under God" weren't added until 1954, right?

If you are interested in having a discussion between faiths/lack of faith i.e. theists with atheists, christians with muslims, etc., what would you want to talk about? Something beyond the typical mindless "How can you not believe in God?", "How can you believe in God?", "Why do you believe in a book that teaches terrorism?" questions. Something that actually invites discussion rather than finger-pointing.

My ex paramour used to hang out with Wiccans, and he made them sound like a bunch of flakey, druggie, lazy Hippies - yeah, real attractive.

I'd like to know what they worship, and how, who would they exclude, and why, and what they stand for...

Personal experience a plus...

Peace and blessings, tishy
