I'm interested in learing abt Islam. Y are ppl so against that religion?

Since I became friends with Muslims, I was at awe with their kindness, family unity and obedience. I hear in the news about how bad they are and what some of them do. But do U ever hear how good Muslim ppl are. From my experience, I think ppl are being to judgemental. Look at some of the bad christians that hurt our country? We're not all perfect. Dont let the bad muslims ruin ur view on the good Muslims. Just like christian, we have some bad ones out there.

thank-you for being open minded and not baseing your opinion on what you have heard in the media, the truth is muslims are really very kind people! Those extremists are not muslims they go against everything islam teaches!

What many people do not know is how much muslims are protesting against these terrorist attacks the media fails to report things such as the 4 day protest/conference held in london last month or the onle held in birmingham last week and the one held in australia and bangladesh this month.

You can gather by reading these answers that 100% of those with bad opinions of Islam are based on what they see in the media or what others who have a bad opinion of Islam tell them they should think. It's extremely unfortunate that they limit themselves so much to wonderful experiences life has to offer them. I applaud you in your efforts because this shows an EXTREMELY greater ammount of maturity, respect and dignity than most people who answered you. Bravo!

People judge a religion by the examples of that religion that they have seen. Unfortunately in this country, that is trypically terrorists, so many assume that most mulsims are terrorristic in nature and that it must come from the teachings of their religion. The interesting thing is for many muslims, they view christians as morally loose and degraded by the examples they see. It isn't encessarily true either way, but it is a common occurrance.

Juanita, I am a Christian but would be the first to admit that there are many Muslims that are moral and kind than some Christians. That is not the main issue though. And it's not the reason to choose a certain religion over another. The issue in our minds should be "what is true"? Jesus said that He was and is the "Truth". Before I trusted Christ as my personal Saviour and committed my life to serving Him, I decided to check out how true the Bible is. I discovered that it is completely true and reliable and has completely changed my life for the better. These are some of the helpful websites to determine what was true and therefore best for me.

i tend to agree with you. But there are extremists on both sides, and these are the ones the world hears about and base their opinions on.

Both Christian and Islamic faith are based on their interpretations of their respective scripture. Extremists generally interpret theirs in a negative light and bend and twist their beliefs to their own ends. This is what causes the conflict in the world and the masses reactions to it.

Neither religion truly teaches hate, but with a twisted enough view, either one can be taught and learned that way.

Let me guess...you are in your teens?
People...by which you mean "adults"...are against it, so, of course, you want to learn all about it?
Make sure you DO learn ALL about it, then. Find out for yourself what the Koran has to say about how your new friends ought to treat "infidels", study about the "prophet" and how he lived his life, look into the origins of "Allah"...do these things for yourself. Don't take anyone else's word about these things, you seem like a pretty intelligent individual...but don't let yourself be fooled, either.
Sure, lots of Muslims seem nice. Probably alot of them in our country really do regret what is happening in the name of their religion, and would really just like to "get along". But is that gonna be possible for them?
We really do need to know the real truth about Islam, and compare it with the majority religion here in America.
