How is this different from any other believer? The very definition of faith is a hope for things which are not seen which are true.

Theism: you realize that there's a god Agnostic Theism: you imagine there's a god, yet you do not declare to understand for particular. Agnostic Theists also have a tendency to not extremely care all that a lot, yet have a tendency to lean in the direction of theism. Agnosticism: you do not care in any respect.

I cannot speak for the majority, but I have searched for a way to give a title to my belief/non-believing and finally I have taken a clearly stated "title".
I am a Skeptic. I need proof. Verifiable data. There is no proof that there is a God. There is no proof that there isn't a God.
Until such time real, provable data is available, I will continue to be a "Skeptic" . As to whether I am disliked for my beliefs, of course I am and I don't care because those who attack anyone who is a non-believer does so because they are struggling with the idea of "faith" as a system to base their own lives on!

Faith is faith. I am agnostic. I have tried again and again to be a theist. I also spent a short time trying to be more of an atheist. After to loss of three babies. Now I have just accepted that theists really seem to be messing up the world. I am fine being agnostic. We never seem to hurt anyone or cause any issues. ;)

I'm the other side of that, an agnostic atheist. I know that no one's going to find proof either way, but I also know that the reason for that is god's non-existence. How could a non-existent thing leave any kind of proof, for or against? I don't particularly dislike you, but I am confused as to why a lack of evidence would lead you to believe.

I'm Christian, and don't take things incorrectly. I don't dislike you for your faith, but I also don't see things the same way you do.
I think we can disagree without ruining the chance of friendship.
I would ask you, however, a few things, to stimulate thought.
The first, if you believe there is a God, do you believe him the creator? If so, for what purpose is the creation?
Secondly, if God possibly left you a message from antiquity, would you seek to find out what He said?
Third, do you believe there is a difference between proof and evidence? Or a difference between spirit and flesh?
So to answer your question, I think an agnostic theist is a person who is not far from belief, but may well be ignoring or missing the proof of Spiritual things that he or she has encountered.

Sounds like someone uncomfortable in the space of not knowing. That's not a judgment....we all do things to help ourselves be comfortable. Once you open yourself up to associating with people who say they DO know, though, I expect eventually the Agnostic Theist (sic) will find their way to becoming a simple theist. The social pressure will be to great, and the agnosticism will cease to effect the way they think or live.

If you have confidence in your belief system, why would you care what anyone else thought? ANY relationship with God, including the atheist's total disbelief, is a very personal experience and should be based, at least in part, on your own self confidence. If you have satisfied your mind that what you hold is true, then so be it. On the other hand, if you are just running with the crowd and hold no true belief of your own, then you should be exploring history and your own thoughts. As it happens, my belief system is that of a Christian, and I am well satisfied with that. What anyone else might think is totally immaterial. Believe in yourself. That will make the rest of your beliefs more valid.

I was Agnostic for a decade, but now I use the term Pagan to describe myself. I am perfectly okay with Agnosticism, and I don't feel that there is any need to push them towards a religion or Atheism. Extremes are not meant for everyone, and Agnosticism is a perfectly acceptable path!

I am an agnostic. I personally do not subscribe to any of the current models for God. However, I do hold out hope that some kind of God may exist.
