Gen 32:
24) And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25) And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was strained, as he wrestled with him.
26) And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27) And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28) And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29) And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30) And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, [said he], I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Hitting the hollow point of the thigh is a four point violation in wrestling! That's bull ****, why did God fight dirty?

I can see the marque now " The Creator of the Universe vs. Itinerant Sheep Herder" tonight at 7 pm. WWF fans would go nuts.

I think we all know the fight wasn't with God, Jacob was fighting with deciding whether or not he was going to obey God's directions. Jacob "wrestled" with God like one wrestles with a tough decision when either way it goes someone is going to be hurt. Jacob more than likely talked himself into a corner like an opponent plays another in Chess, closing all other avenues of escape except for one and that person comes to the realization that they must yield graciously or be beaten embarrassingly. God wanted Jacob to win his "fight", but he also wanted him to remember the "why and what" he had fought for.

You people are always trying to condemn God. What a joke! Why don't you get your hands on a study Bible so that you don't have to ask such rude questions. The point is that JACOB would not let go until God blessed Him (which He did).

What Jacob would not do up until that point is to submit to God.

Many of us have had "dirtier" things happen to us before we finally let go and let God.

Alcoholics and drug abusers end up in a ditch with blackouts and medical problems for the rest of their earthly lives before they finally submit to God and his will for us, instead of our own self will and weaknessess.

If you look at it through those eyes, Jacob got off easy and was very thankful for it, verse 30 of your own question.

God was getting a point across. Jacob was blessed in the end. One should never question God. If it were possible for you to ask God this same question,he would give you an answer that would be perfectly clear. We must have faith in him,and his decisions.

Is it more interesting that God fought dirty (does someone have a God vs human wrestling rule book?) or that the human actually won?

That's kind of NOT THE POINT. Besides, Jacob needed to be put in his place. And God can do whatever He wants, any way He wants. Who are YOU to judge?
