I know people say all of the problems in this world are because of religious belief, but I don't think that's it.

Here in Yahoo Answers we are able to freely exchange our opinions between one belief and another, because decent civilized people can talk about their differences without resorting to violence.

But when you look around and see some of the vulgar, graphic, hateful, comments people make instead of honest and open dialoge, I think that is the real problem. The human heart.

People either choose to be evil or they don't. Even if we didn't have religious differences, people who want to hate, will still find a way a hate.

What do you think?

Are there any groups of people in any part of the world that still truly believe in Greek gods and goddesses? Is there is a religion in existance today that still believes in the Greek gods and goddesses?

If not, what is now the predominant religion in Greece?

If so, elaborate...

Especially since Jesus Christ was Jewish, and in all probability gay.

He lived with a bunch of men in the desert, loved using anointing oils, and sported mandals (man-sandals).

People fear to open their doors if two people wearing black happened to be standing there. Do people actually listen to them and say "your right, what have i been thinking all this time?!, im converted!!"
Just p*sses me off that people basically tell you to believe what they believe! They only believe what they do because someone told them to.
People should believe what they do for personal reasons. We all seem to go round in life just following others opinions.
I make my own, I dont judge, as long as people are truely happy I wont blink an eye.

It's obvious most of them don't bother reading the details of the question, yet they feel the need to go into great detail about Satan when I didn't say anything about Satan.

outside of abortion clinics. Do you really believe you are doing gods work by terrorizing an already terrified girl or woman who is about to make a very difficult decision? Is that what jesus would have done? Can't you find a less damaging way to express your opinion, seeing as that is what it is, an opinion.

spend little if any time worrying about their own? How does disproving evolution, or bashing gays bring you closer to God? Why are you wasting your time? Just wondering.

Do you find as you get older and open yourself up more spiritually that you meet more people on the same spiritual wavelength ? People that you just "click" with automatically ? How do you respond then to the people who have been in your life for years that just don't understand you spiritually ? Do you find them tiresome ? restrictive ?
Do you cut them out because you feel they are holding your own spiritual evolution back ?or do you keep them at a distance ? or do you endure them due to familiarity .
Thankfully my best friend and I seem to be evolving spiritually at exactly the same pace and even if we haven't been in contact for a few weeks we still sing off the same song sheet and find we have been exploring the same things, but there are others in my life I feel are holding me back.

You deny the existence of Thor and all the other gods. I do too, but I deny the existence of just 1 god more than you do.

As many of you know, I am an agnostic, with no desire to convert anyone to my way of thinking.

In the interest of creating a database of questions and answers, I ask the following of Atheists and Agnostics,

Besides being told verbally or in a written document that you will be punished for your sins, have any of the following happened to you in your life . . .

1. Someone put a gun to your head and demanded you believe in their God?
2. Has someone put you on a train, and sent you to a camp, and starved you, and put your moms and dads in a shower room? (This actually did happen to several million people in Europe, it is a documented fact that 12 million persons died in Germany because of the holocost).

So, outside of someone telling you that you were going to be punished in the after-life, has anyone threatened violence to you or your person if you didn't believe as they do?

This is not a defense of God or religious people, for read my other questions and you will see

accepted ways of dating human bones, to bring killers to justice, are constantly being picked apart by those who believe in death penalty enforcement? I mean, if those dating techniques (to find the age of human bones) are so GREAT in helping to kill the killers, then how come they are quote- "made up" or "make believe" by all the so called "anti God evolutionists"????
Personally, I give God all the credit, and I think he created everything TO evolve.
Thanks.

It has been said by some not all Christians on yahoo answers that the human being requires a creator. It is stated that something can not come from nothing. It is further stated that this was the Judeo-Christian God who created the human being.

In the interest of creating a database of questions and answers I ask the following questions.

Who created the Judeo-Christian God?
The Judeo-Christian God is something, something can not come from nothing.

Also, if you state that it is your belief that God always existed (based on John 1:1-2); would it also make sense that a non-theist could believe that matter and energy always existed and does not require a creator? That the non-theist belief that matter and energy has always existed without a creator is just as valid a belief as the Judeo-Christian belief that God existed without a creator?

There is no doubt that there has always been a negative world view on the Jews. But what REALLY drives the hatred towards Jews? I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR REAL EDUCATED ANSWERS. It would be even more interesting to hear from people that ACTUALLY hate the Jews. Do you hate ALL Jews? Do you even know ANY Jews? If so, why do you hate them? Please answer with specific facts, not assumptions or stereotypes you have heard.

I would truly like to get to the bottom of anti-semitism. I think there are no REAL reasons for the hatred. All the "popular" stereotypes: Jews rule the World......Jews have all the money.....Jews have horns on their headd... Jews wnat to take over the world etc... are obviously false and no one can prove any of this crap. So I would like to hear from people that can actually THINK and come up with an answer. I WILL GO OUT ON A LIMB AND SAY THAT IF YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT YOU WILL COME TO REALIZE THAT YOU HATE FOR NO REASON.

What's so bad about judging? It doesn't say it's a sin it just says you'll get as much judgment that you gave.
