Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.

This verse means something to me, I can feel it… but I can't quite figure out what message is in it for me. Any thoughts or personal translations would be much appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Jesus nailed to the cross by his wrists? So why do people who exhibit the stigmata always get it on their palms?

(please, I'd rather not get any "ur stupid jesus didn't exist" answers. that's neither here nor there, and that's not the question I asked. Thank you!)

If there is no God, irregardless of what religion one may believe he belongs to, then where did the original matter in the universe come from? I understand the concept of evolution and the Big Bang theories, but everything had to come from somewhere.

Assuming the Big Bang theory is accurate then where did the matter that was in the Big Bang come from? It had to get here somehow. What about the forces that caused the Big Bang to occur? Those had to come from somewhere.

Also, how did the first living organisms come about? If the earth was, as theorized, a molten hot ball of rock for a billion or so years, then how did inorganic things develop into organic lifeforms (single cell organisms)?

I'm not trying to start a flame-war between believers and non-believers; it's just a matter of curiosity.

When I put my lunch in a microwave and took it out a few minutes later, my lunch was a bit warmer. According to a fundamentalists's logic, God must have heated my lunch up, right?

What are the beliefs of the people behind the design of the Yahoo! Answers website and who administrates it? Have you ever felt as if Yahoo! Answers has been unfair and why it has turned into a giant chatroom?

Before you ask--yes, there is a reason I put it in this category--this is where I go most of the time and I want your opinions.

God created Adm and Eve, they had Cain and Abel. The next bit is nasty, but from this was borne mankind. If you take inbreading in to account and here is the doozie; We bred our selves in to an ape like creature and then the whole thing took millions of years to get back to the way we are now!
Makes sense to me if you require God figure but you belive in evolution...
I'm not trying to upset any one's beliefs here, Just looking for other views.
I think it's a piece of genius

One of the clearest expressions of selective morality by biblicists is shown in their approach to the Old Testament. They leap in and out of the Old Law like a porpoise in a ship's wake. If they like it, they quote it; if they don't, they won't. Among the scores of verses they enjoy and employ are those which teach the following:

* (a) Contact with mediums or wizards is forbidden ("Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God"--Lev. 19:31 RSV, see also:Lev. 20:6, Deut. 18:10-12);
* (b) Infanticide is prohibited ("...for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods"--Deut. 12:31, see also: Lev. 18:21);

Is it that they don't understand that a Cadillac is a machine that wouldn't exist if people didn't assemble it from metal, plastic, etc.?

Do they not know the difference between organic and inorganic matter?

Or are they so desperately grasping at straws to prove that 'god just made everything', that they'll come up with any ridiculous statement about evolution and repeat it ad nauseum?

How many people are going to misunderstand evolution completely when they answer this and say 'if evolution is true why are there still monkeys"? (Because humans and chimps have a common ancestor. Ever see an evolutionary branch chart? It isn't all that difficult a concept.)

But I'm sure they'll use the banana answer. It's a prepackaged natural food that proves god exists. That’s BRILLIANT.

What do you think? Theists pull this all the time. But I contest (since they are obviously wrong) that belief does cost humanity. Not in the same old worn-out ways of discrimination, $ lost to tithing, and general misinformation, but because theism promotes reproduction in a world that theists don't think is worth living in. Theists only TOLERATE earth until they can get somewhere better. Since there is nowhere better, and they KEEP BRINGING NEW PEOPLE HERE, they are hurting the new people, according to their own standards. Theists are causing new people to live this sencond-rate life on this unjust planet in RECORD NUMBERS, and then just burying them. Isn't that aweful?

One of great weaknesses of the Bible lies in the fact that it contains tangible mechanisms by which to refute its truthfulness. Within it pages are verses which can be used to test the book's validity. They can be generally grouped under two broad headings--those involving tremendous powers given to believers and those involving powers attendant to prayer and requests. The most prominent verses within the first category are Mark 16:17-18, which says, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lays hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Many true believers have handled deadly snakes and drunk deadly poisons only to find the Bible is both erroneous and dangerous. Courts in Illinois, Tennessee, and elsewhere have repeatedly stopped practices of this nature because of the treat to life.

Why don't we see God coming down on a cloud and taking dust from the ground to make human beings anymore?

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7 (New King James Version)
