Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.

This verse means something to me, I can feel it… but I can't quite figure out what message is in it for me. Any thoughts or personal translations would be much appreciated.

Look at the previous verse

13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?' 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD ? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."

All the verse means is nothing to too hard for the Lord to do - If He wants an OLD woman to give birth to a baby then it will happen.

No, nothing is too hard for our Lord.
You may want to pray and ask God to reveal to you what He wants you personally to learn from that verse.
That's really how all of us should study the Bible.
Are you going through something that is overwhelming to you right now? Call on our Father and you will feel the comfort of His love.
If God could make sure that Sarah became pregnant at the age of 90 (Abraham was 100), nothing is ever to hard for Him.
I hope this helps :)

You know, a pastor once told me that before you can know what a scripture means to you, you must what the scripture means. That sounds kind of convoluted but what it means is that the scripture must be taken completely in context and you must understand the original meaning of the verse. Only then, can you discern what it means to you. Remember Genesis is a book of history, it's just an account of what happened, it's not a personal letter from God to you. To me, it is simply an illustration of God's ability to perform miracles in areas that man believes hopeless.

Nothing is too hard for the Lord - even helping Sarah (Abraham's wife) become pregnant after she was way past child-bearing years. Whatever you are dealing with in this life - nothing is too hard for God to help you with - lean on Him! :)

isnt it ironic, Abraham waited and waited... for decades and not too long before his child came he even had to pray for a wife swapping Phillistine king to have his wives bear children...as if there werent nogh Philistines in the world.....

but God is wise...... and made Abraham see past his need to pray for another? and then provide the long awaited child Isaac who comes,, he has to wait... a little more.. well perhaps thru the pregnancy at least

and at Abraham's death at 175 he could look up at 76 year old Isaac and say... when I was your age... God promised me a son

Well, what it tells me is that God keeps his word. If he promised you something or has a plan for you he WILL follow through it. Maybe it doesn't seem like it sometimes, but God sees the bigger picture of life and knows what is ahead. Maybe God has promised you something and wants you to have faith like Abraham that God will do what he said he would do. Or maybe he has a plan that he wants you to trust in him that he knows what he is doing. I hope this helped some what?

The Lord can make even a barren woman have a child.

God made a promise to Abram, that he would be the father of a great nation {ISRAEL}. He told him exactly when he would be a father.

This was in their old age, Sara was long past childbearing years. God used this to show them they could rely on Him and that He keeps His promises.

AND...no matter how old you are, you are never to old for God to make Himself known through you.
