Several studies on Americans focus on the beliefs of high-IQ individuals. In one study, 90% of the general population surveyed professed a distinct belief in a personal god and afterlife, while only 40% of the scientists with a BS surveyed did so, and only 10% of those considered "eminent."[4]. Another study found that mathematicians were just over 40%, biologists just under 30%, and physicists were barely over 20% likely to believe in God.[5]

Do you think religion stunts intelectual growth? Wouldn't that be a form of child abuse to subject young children to religion? Children can be taught moral values with out the help of religion, I was and I have an IQ of 160. Higher than my parents who were forced to attend church when they were children.

Christians always say that Jesus died a horribly painful death. How do we know that it wasn't just an act? How do we know God wasn't constantly filling Jesus's veins with morphine?

He wanted prayer to be a private affair between god and the worshipper. I am sure he never could have imagined what has been done in his name after he died. I believe this new-founded Christian religion should be called Paulist (or Saulist). for those who consider Christ special and who accept his teachings would never stand for what is happening today in his name.

Does anyone here worship Her Invisible Pinkness (Blessed be Her Holy Hooves)? Do you leave Her offerings of raisin bread? Do you partake of the holy Ham and Pineapple Pizza? Have your socks been raptured by Her (May Her Hooves Never be Shod)?

There are a lot of questions asked here, where answers are given that are obviously not what they were looking for? If you can't be respectful of other's beliefs, why answer at all?

Having studied two other languages other than English, there are words and phrases that simply do not exist when translated from one language to another. For example, in the Spanish language there is the subjunctive form of the verb which can indirectly demonstrate the person's feeling or frame of mind when used which does not exist in English. Furthermore, the bible has been translated into dozens of different languages. Why didn't Christians learn whatever language the bible was originally written in in order to recite it similar to that which the Jews and Muslims do? I'm not saying that the Torah or Qu'ran is authentic but maybe a little less diluted than the bible. Please note that I am not asking about what your religious beliefs are but simply interested in why people belive that the bibe is gospel!

This is not poetric question. I have read many verses in Quran that say people "think" by their hearts. An example is Hajj [22:46]: "Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts may think and understand or their ears may hear?".

I ahve always thought that all those verses are just poetric, until I found two things:
1- I found that all early commentaries (Ibn Katheer, Tabari...etc) confirmed that people "think" with their hearts.
2- I found an authentic prophetical statement told by prophet Muhammed the following:
"Angel Gabriel came to him and took his heart out of his chest, cut a little piece from it and threw it away saying that this little piece is the evil part of his heart, washed his heart with holy water, and put it back in Muhammed's chest. Since then, prophet Muhammed used to show his companions the mark in his chest with the stitches on it"!. This statement (Hadith) was narrated by most reliable narrators [Muslim: 236, Musnad Ahmed: 13555 & Nasiee: 448)

If nature intended for humans to have sexual pleasure, then...

Why aren't the penis and vagina located on the bottom of our heel?

Why are human females the only ones who have a painful menstrual cycle and delivery?

Why does sex have to produce offspring?

Why are humans the only creatures who have forced abortions?

Why are humans the only creatures who have sex soley for the sake of pleasure?

Why do we need artificial birth control?

Why do animals not have same-sex marriages?

Why are there sexual diseases?

Why do human females keep themselves from having a baby, have sex only for pleasure, terminate an unplanned pregnancy, rather own a little dog and give it the love intended for their child...when a female animal would give it's own life to save that of it's child, never has sex for pleasure, has no time for pets, and devotes it's entire life solely for the sake of being a mother?

Why did Jesus have to be born of a virgin?
