As in, "The scripture was cannonized." Also there are positions in the Catholic church called Cannon. And I believe Cannon is a section of the church as well. Where did this word come from and what does it mean in a religious context?

I've seen so many Christians do something ON PURPOSE but, after they do it, they just say "I made a mistake, nobody's perfect" Why do Christians lie to themselves? Do christians not know the meaning of mistake

From what I can tell, Christ was very poor and would not have been rich. If he had excess he would have given it away. Also greed is supposed to be a sin. Does being rich or even the desire to be rich constitute greed?

I'm confused as to why this belief is so widespread.

If you check out Acts 9 and 22 Paul, for instance, obeyed Jesus, fasted, repented, and even prayed. But he still wasn't forgiven because Ananias then said "Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.' " (Acts 22:16).

I'm not trying to say that we are forgiven BECAUSE we are baptized but based on the examples from the Bible it certainly seems that baptism is the time in which God chooses to forgive our sins which is when we're saved.

So am I missing something? Are there scriptures supporting this? And how do you deal with the fact that the idea of being able to pray for forgiveness and be saved is a relatively modern idea?

Thanks.

Original sin? Does anyone really believe that? For my current sins? How could someone ELSE accept responsablity for these? Don't I have to accept responsabilty for my own actions? If he died for my sins, then why do I still ahve to ask for forgiveness? If this is a gift, then why do I have to earn it? Why do I have to earn forgiveness for a sin I never commited?

Does anyone know if the Syriac Peshetta was available to the translators of the KJV. If so, did they use it for translation purposes. If you have any links to backup research, I would appreciate it.

I think one of the problems I have with joining a religion is that so many are similar to a mythology. Take for example the Christian religion and Greek mythology, there are so many parallels.

What makes your religion different from a mythology of the past or a religion of the present that because they aren't worshipping the right God that they are in fact just a mythology themselves.

Being not perfect is not the same thing as being bad or evil. You can be not perfect and still be fairly decent. Christians seem to think being not perfect falls into the catagory of being out right evil.

Have you let Darwin into your life? Has he freed you from a life of ignorance and superstition? Embrace him and you will find peace. True, you will have to start accepting responsibility for your own life and destiny, and will have to be strong enough to be a good person without the promise of heaven or fear of hell, but it is worth it. True, it takes more than simple bovine faith, it takes rigorous logic and deep introspection, but it is worth it. And if you absolutely must, you can still celebrate Christmas.

Darwin saves.

Muslims always say it was "changed" or "corrupted" but provide no proof other than Koran.

The British museum houses a Koran that has at least 3 differences in the Koran. I would like to know if there are differences in meaning or complete changes in verses ( like the Koran in the museum ) in the Bible, and where can I find it?

This is a real question- I would like to be able to see it. Im not talking about translation history. But real and complete verse changes.

Thanks !

Matthew 24:36. Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.

If Jesus is the Son and Father, then it would read: Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the son ( Jesus ), but only the Father ( Jesus ).

That doesnt make sense.

Also John 14:28: YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father (Jesus), because the Father (Jesus) is greater than I am.

How do you explain the Trinity with Jesus stating he isnt greater nor equal to the father. Also, the Holy Spirit isnt mentioned here as well. How come the Holy Spirit doesnt know the Great Day?

Why would someone pay thousands of dollars to gain access to the "secret" knowledge of the "Church" of Scientology, when they could just read Dianetics? How much more secret knowledge could there be, and how cool is it to be worth potentially throwing away your entire life savings?

(I think the so-called "religion" of scientology is funny and pretty much harmless--if you want to think you're depressed because of Xenu[Xemu?] go right ahead, but the "church" itself seems to be nothing more than a dangerous cult.)

I have been raised in a "Faith by Grace" church, but I am now attending Remnant Fellowship with believe's in TOTAL Obedience. I agree with this very much...it says that Jesus did come to show us how to live our lives 'pure' and without sin. I know that Jesus WAS/IS the Son of God and of course He would live a pure life without sin, but He WAS also tempted with every temptation and He STILL remained without sin as a MAN.

Can't we today live our lifes TOTALLY for God's will? Isn't that what God wants? It states all over the Bible to love God is to OBEY His commands and that no impure heart will enter heaven....Jesus did die for our sins, but we are NOT to waste His presious blood and just keep on sinning...so many say we are just human and that is what Christ died for. But, shouldn't we TRY to be sinless? Is that too much to strive for? And why do so many folks think that to try to live a sinless life is impossible?
