Actually, the Bible was not necessarily written hundreds of years after anything happened. The earliest letter of the NT (1 Thessalonians) was written circa 49A.D. That's roughly16-20 years after Jesus' death and resurrection. The earliest gospel (probably Mark) was written less than a decade after that.

Would you deny that World War II ever happened? It was sixty years ago. What if somebody this summer came out with a book concerning the battles in Europe during WWII? Would you doubt it's authenticity?

Given the number of documents written concerning the events of the NT, and the time elapsed between it actually happening and it being written, the NT is the most accurate document of antiquity. Also, don't forget that this was a culture that didn't have ADHD, television and a myriad of other distractions. The stories were important in forming the community and the accuracy of recalling the events was highly emphasized. There were probably people younger than me (I'm 25) who had the whole Torah (what we call Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) memorized.

That is false... the Bible is a collection of 66 books written over a span of many centuries. The prophecies that predicted events that happened thousands of years ago and are still coming true today. They were written before the event and can this statement is a well established fact.

The books of the Bible can be dated pretty accurately today. The style and linguistics of the texts can be dated according to when they were used during the period of time by which it was written.

For example... we do not speak in Victorian any more... we speak in modern English. The Hebrew language changed it's meaning and pronunciation of words over the centuries and that is how they are dated. There are at least 22 different dialects of Hebrew in the Old Testament... so we can date the prophetic books and prove that they written before the prophetic events occurred.

Recommend some of Josh McDowell's books. They will challenge your thinking.

You say that the bible was written hundreds of years ago.
Well, In Job 40:15 and on. God talks about the behemoth, This is a dinosaur. God describes how this dinosaur lived. No one at that time knew how dinosaurs lived. They can describe their bones maybe, but, not how they lived. This alone should be proof.
Want more....
Psalm 22 tells how Jesus was going to be crucified hundreds of years before the fact. It even tells how the roman soldier would gamble for his clothes. And, the words that would come out of the priests.

This proves that Jesus is the Messiah, The Anointed one.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

True the Bible was written thousands of years ago. But God dose exsist if you believe in him. God exsists in your heart if you Believe. God is a powerful being and he is full of love and creater of all. God will and dose exsists as long as you believe, but in order to believe you must have faith and to have faith you must admit that you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus into your heart. If you have a Bible read it it will tell you all about Jesus and God.[read Holy Bible: King James version] Start with the new testment the book of John. John 3:16-17 John 6:35 John 8:12 John 11:25-26 John 14:2-7 then my friend read the book of Romans there are a few verses to read. Romans 3:10&23 Romans5:8-12 Romans 6:12 Romans 6:23 Romans 10:9-13 if you read these verses you will understand that God doses exsist and he will exsist in your life if you believe and accept him in your heart. In fact here's a prayer that you can pray: Dear Jesus I know I am a sinner, and if I died now in my sin, I would go to hell. Right now, by faith, I am trusting you as my savior and only hope for Heaven. Thankyou for dying on the cross for me and saving me from eternity in Hell. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The old testament was written hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus. Find a good teacher and they can show you all the relationships between the old and new testament. The old testament was used as a telling of things to come and the new testament verifys God's word. We were not ask to just believe but were given proof.

You can never know in the technical sense of the word. He is a spiritual being not a physical being. But it is not about knowing but it's about believing God exists. It takes a measure of faith which is given to every man (Romans 12:3). The evidence is in your faith... you can believe that the world was created from a big explosion in space or God created it. I mean it doesn't matter how much proof you have it's all about what you want to believe. I choose to believe God exists. If I die and he doesn't I have lived a life that was decent and loving by any man's standards. But if I die and he does I will spend my eternal life with him ( I pray)......HALLELUJAH

The book of Job goes on for 4 chapters about things that weren't proven by science until a few thousand years after. Talk about time delay, modern science is so new in the scope of history, it should be considered an arcane art.

I believe that God exists. Now the bible and it's contents is a book who's origin is questionable to me. God did not write it ...men did. Several people made writings that were later translated several times, compiled and edited several times by who knows who. Trust me, there is a God, but he did not create the bible, the koran, the torah, the mormon book, or any other book.
