Original sin? Does anyone really believe that? For my current sins? How could someone ELSE accept responsablity for these? Don't I have to accept responsabilty for my own actions? If he died for my sins, then why do I still ahve to ask for forgiveness? If this is a gift, then why do I have to earn it? Why do I have to earn forgiveness for a sin I never commited?

you lend new meaning to the phrase: " being on the right track". the current state of the so-called christian religion is criminal. a bit of research will show that who Jesus was, what his true thoughts and practices were, what his intentions were/are for how people should truly "believe" and practice have been completely twisted to meet the needs of patriarcho-fascist "owners" of the various denominations. currently, their primary goal is to own and control everything ( and in the case of the catholic church to succeed in its plan for a counter-reformation), and, of course, to control and manipulate you by all means possible. guilt is always a popular technique. thus if Jesus died for MY sins, i MUST knuckle under and follow all the dictates and rules, etc.etc. don"t be a brainwashed sheep!! investigate religion for yourself--all of them, time permitting. i will share with you that holiness comes from being experientially in touch with "divine" energy. how to do this? meditation and related practices help alot. check out, for example www.sahajayoga.com, not a religious site. it's all about being in touch with high vibe energy/frequencies. this changes your whole being/perceptions/reality. also, check out "esoteric religion". that's what it's all about. good luck!

Too bad I do not have my Bible with me as I answer this. But I will do the best that I can.

The original sin is when Adam took and ate of the fruit. Now the Bible talks about forgiveness. The only way we can be forgiven is if we own up to and responsibility for our actions.

EX: If you do something wrong against a friend, are you not going to want to ask them to forgive you? I would hope the answer is of course!!

In order for us to ask God for forgiveness, we have to accept what we did was wrong. We have to ask. When we ask, then he forgives us. We can't earn it by doing something good after doing something wrong. God does not work that way. If we were able to work our way to forgiveness then Jesus, who was, is the only perfect person that lived on the face of the earth, would not have had to die. Payment was needed and we are not able to pay the price. Jesus Christ had to.

Now as for sins not commited, then you have nothing to worry about, yet. That is to say that if you have not commited the sin, you do not need to be forgiven for breaking that sin.

At another time I would be more than happy to show you.

How can someone else die for my sins? Good question. Had me stuck for a while.

But really, in awe and wonder I ask this question: Why Oh God would you die for me?
And He answers: with my great and abundant love.

Well, I can't die for your sins. I'm not Holy, nor was I born with Holy Blood. YAHSHUA (Jesus) was born without sin. And not only that HE lived with out sin. He was so close to HIS Father. The Bible says he knew what was in a man. He could see right into the very depths of their soul.

You are right it is a gift. Freely come and take the FREE gift of the Water of Life.

I've often heard it said (and agree 100%) that Eternal life** is a free gift but if you do it right it will cost you everything.

Ecclesiastes says God has set eternity on the hearts of men. Face it, you were made to live forever. This short life is a meaningless vapor.

Read John chapter 3. It says all men stand CONDEMNED ALREADY because of sin. This is why its a free gift. Because we have NO other way, no other chance. Because we deserve condemnation

This is why its called God's Grace. But at the same time the apostle Paul says that we have to cast off all that hinders and take hold of this thing called Grace.

**Eternal Life is to KNOW GOD (John 17:3) deeply and intimately...the Psalms say deep calls to Deep, the deep of man to the Deep of God

Original sin is the invention of the Catholic Church by its own writings. Where do you get that you have to earn your way to Heaven? It is a free gift, lest any man should boast. Yes, you do need to accept responsibility for your own actions and sin but the whole idea in Jesus taking your place taking your sin on His shoulders is so you do not have to die the second death. That is the one that if you go there, there is no return as you will be burned up, turned to ashes and be no more. If you have paid my fine for getting drunk and slapping you silly and I come along and slap you silly again, do you think I need to apologize to you for that act or do you contend the price has already been paid? You paid the price for the act so in your assumption, doesn't that make my act already taken care of so you deserve no apology? We apologize because we are taking the whip to Jesus anew or taking the nails and driving them through His hands and feet again every time we turn to sin again. You can't earn forgiveness and if you never committed the sin, what do you need forgiveness for? All have sinned so we need to apologize for those things we do every day that hurts Jesus. The Catholic church wants you to work to earn you way to Heaven by doing penance and depriving yourself so you get the indulgences and pay them money so you can get indulgences, working your way to grace. That is why Martin Luther got out as he found you did not have to earn you way, it was a free gift. Doesn't mean that when you slap someone in the face again you never have to apologize for it just because you were forgiven once.

If you died for your sins that's justice.
Since He died for your sins, that's propitiation.
It's a gift. You can't earn it - just accept it.
He did it out of love.
If you accept that and love Him back then you want to obey Him and keep His commandments. When you stumble (we all do) then tell Him you're sorry and move on.

You're still responsible for your actions. If you steal you go to jail. You can ask His forgiveness but you'll still serve time.

If this is all nonsense to you then, well, have a nice day.

I absolutely believe that someone can die for my sins. The Bible says in the Old Testament that a messiah will come to save everyone. This was fulfilled with Jesus. Original sin is a tricky subject, and personally, I don't believe in it, but you can't live a perfect life, because it is human nature to sin. What Jesus did was die so that we may live. Heaven is such a perfect place that it cannot be blemished by any sin at all. In order to get to heaven, you must accept that Jesus saved you and ask that your sins be forgiven. You can't accept Jesus and not repent for your sins. In accepting Jesus, you ask that your sins be forgiven so that it is known that you believe that Jesus did die so that you may live. In accepting Jesus as your savior, you ARE accepting responsibility for your sins. You are merely saying that God loves me enough to want to spend eternity with me, but I have sinned, so that can't happen. Jesus says that if you repent and accept him, it will be like your sins never happened and you will be perfect. In this way can you enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is all so confusing, but hope this helps.

Dear, you dont have to earn forgiveness! All you have to do is ask and believe!Jesus died for your sins because
he was the son of God and sinless. John 3:16 says,
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten
son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. All you have to do is repent (tell Him
your a sinner), Believe, and ask Him into your heart! All you have to do is belive, dear! I did this 10 years ago,
you wont regret it! Do it!!

You don't have to earn it, you just have to ask for it. All humans are born with a sin nature and in order for you to go to heaven that sin nature must be taken care of. God will not allow sin in His presence, therefore our sin nature must be covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, who was the only perfect being to exsist on earth. The only completely pure sacrifice for all sins. Jesus was the only one who could accept responsiblity for all the sins of the world. He's God, He can do anything.

So sound like a crafty Christian with all your anti-Christian questions. Are you catching many flies on that sticky paper?

Pass the buck, everyone else does. But if you can't then you are a good person and are allowing yourself to be held accountable for your actions. I agree.

It's a matter of faith. Everyone has faith in something. For example, you had faith that someone would respond to your question. As far as forgiveness goes, faith in the WORD of GOD provides the answer to your question. "For without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins."
